    Flies for whites?

Ran into several of these Wed & Thurs bass fishing in Lick Branch & Raccoon Hollow. Most were 14-16" but this one was almost 18". They fight much harder than a largemouth in this cold water. Getting these scrappers on a fly rod would be wild!

A sizable but not huge group of bass anglers were able to bring about a number of changes back in the 90s in Arkansas by getting the AGFC to sit down and discuss our concerns and wishes. Three things that I remember well getting done were supplemental stocking of smallmouth bass into Lake Ouachita, fewer stripers stocked into Lake Ouachita, and stiffer regulations for spearfishing, which is extremely popular on Ouachita because of its incredible water clarity. If the MDC would be willing to come to the table (pun intended) in a public forum about our Table Rock concerns, perhaps we could get their attention. But for individuals to write letters and make phone calls, it's too easy to toss those into file 13 or forget what was said as soon as the receiver goes back in the cradle.

    Pig Sticker Jigs

So the NuTech spinnerbait works very well too. It’s a NuTech jig with a spinnerbait blade attached. I’ll literally throw the spinnerbait in a brush pile and bounce it out. Rarely gets hung

Wish NuTech would add a 5/16 finesse jig with a collared skirt to their lineup. I'd definitely try one of those.

Where does anyone feel threatened by you posting carp info, carp, or you as a person? Pretty sure that not a single person on this site, including myself, feel threatened by anything you have to share. Why do you go down that road by using words like that? Its been pointed out by a few, why guys here are skeptical about you and your postings. Im also the type that when pushed, pushes harder. Motivation flows thru my veins at anything i do in life. So join the crowd. Now to the point. Its really easy for Phil to compare the ISP on the mentioned accounts to see if they are used from the same computer. And not impossible for a computer nerd to do. So either admit you are infact MoCarp, along with other screen names, and be a man. If not you will never have a mans respect. Now if it really isnt you, and you speak from only one name, then please except my apology. You wont be the first on this sote to do it, and get caught. The other well known guy atleast admitted it. This is a clique group of guys here. Your either in, or your a castaway. It appears your overzealous outward reactions to carp have left you with the latter title. Honesty gets you along way in life. Try it. Ok now for your submission post.

    What's Cooking?

I know exactly what you mean. I had to bring the recipe card to the computer to type the description. Basically a kale salad with pasta, roasted carrots, onions, and Brussels sprouts to which you add harissa marinated cheese. Yoghurt is a major player in the sauce and flavors.

    Pig Sticker Jigs

Not sure as I don't use them. I know they produce some good gear as a lot of local TR guys use them. But if you are in the market for some jigs I would suggest picking up a couple of Bo's NuTech' s to at least try. One, he is a board member here and two they flat out work. Only jig I've used for the last 3-4 years. No I am not sponsored by him or hawking his product for personal gain. I have no skin in the game. They just do as they claim (hard to snag and hit home in the roof of the mouth 99% of the time) and again supporting a board member here should be kinda a no brainer.

I pointed it out first. I noticed some other similarities that led me to think that but I don’t care enough to look. I just want credit for pointing it out.

Snapped these cool shots of a deep hole on Black river full of gar. I hung out there fishing for crappie in a nearby brush top they were hitting water like crazy. They seemed to be shaped like gar even on the graph.

Bass Tournaments - 2 or MAYBE 3 bass weigh-in per team. Large mouth slot length limit? or increase to 17" every odd year. Crappie - enforce the 10" length limit or increase it to 12" every odd year. Have game cam photos/videos from the dock showing crappie being thrown in live wells that CANNOT be 10". I can't remember the last time a game warden stopped me to check live wells. Catch & release for us generally, but if a Walleye or decent crappie come along we keep JUST ENOUGH to have a fish fry for our family of four once or twice per year. More and more consistent game checks on the water and at the entrance of the parks as folks are leaving. No offense to residents on TR, but in the 80's there were folks that lived in Buttermilk that if it had gills it went in the grease. Size limit? We don't need no stinking size limit! was the attitude. With all of the work of "catch n release" there's just as many that take more than needed. The excuse not to enforce or be more involved in building a fishery...... not enough money.

Generation has been fairly consistent lately. It's been geared toward temperature and power demand. The colder it is, the heavier generation is at night and during the morning hours. With it getting warmer the last few days, generation has been light in the morning. It's been off almost every afternoon for a couple of weeks. Water temperature has dropped to 46.5 degrees. This is a 10 degree drop since Table Rock turned over in early December. Our lake water has cleared considerably too. The lake looks great! December is the month we get a bunch of rainbows from the Neosho hatchery (federal). These trout are usually smaller than we get from Shepherd and this stocking is no different. I'd say the average rainbow I've seen is about 10 inches but they're really pretty rainbows and will make beautiful fish if they get to grow up. This is what we call a "silver bullet". It's a rainbow from Neosho. The Boswell Memorial tournament was this past Saturday. Lots of trout were caught. About everyone said they caught a lot of small rainbows but of the 44 teams who participated, I saw over a dozen rainbows that I would consider very nice trout - over 18 inches. There were quite a few teams who came in with one good rainbow and the rest average. One rainbow just under or just over 2 pounds with no good trout to go with them. There was one keeper, 20-inch, brown weighed in but there were 3 brought in to be weighed on Friday by the group. All browns were released. Some were caught on stick baits and others on jigs. This is a good sign of things to come. The winners boated all the way down to Powersite Dam, our lower lake, and threw black rooster tails. Who knew?! I was told pink was a hot color for those throwing jigs. I wouldn't mention it but there was more than one person who said pink was their color. I got out and fished on Tuesday afternoon. Boated to Lookout and started throwing a 1/16th-ounce jig, 2-pound line. The wind was out of the west so it was pushing me towards the bluff bank. I kept the boat towards the shallow side and threw to the middle. I also had a jig-and-float rigged up with 4-pound line, a float and a 1/50th-ounce brown jig with an orange head, 4-5 feet deep. When the wind was blowing too hard to throw the jig, I'd pick up the jig-and-float and use it. The brown jig/orange head did very well but when the wind died, so did that bite. I tried a couple of new color combinations on the 1/16th-ounce jig -- black and burnt orange/orange head and an olive and light olive/orange head. The olive did much better than the black. . . actually it did very well. I did the best on bigger rainbows out in front of the tennis court. As I worked closer to the Narrows, I started to see big schools of small rainbows chasing everything that moved. I tied on a #16 black/copper Zebra Midge with a float using my spin cast (didn't' take a fly rod). I set the float about 18 inches and they liked that! But there had to be just a slight chop on the water to get bit. I worked through the Narrows. There was a fairly good current there which seemed to keep the trout aggressive. I caught 7 trout in a row off one of the downed trees in the channel. The first one was a brown, my first of the year. The next6 were all rainbows all colored up in their spawning colors. All these fish were between 16 and 20 inches in length and fighters! I caught them on a white 1/16th-ounce jig. I saw one guy throwing a small silver Cleo and he was hooking fish too. Others were throwing jigs and fly fishing probably with a small jig or Zebra Midge. Guide Tony Weldele reported they did very well throwing Cleos in the Branson Landing area this week. Steve Dickey was out this morning and said his clients were catching them on a small 1/100th-ounce ginger jig under a float. Guys fishing yesterday caught them on yellow Power Eggs. They said they tried all the other colors and yellow by far was the best color. They said from Fall Creek down was the best area for them, especially with the water running in the mornings.
