    question

Last warning... This site isn't like others where there's no rules against pretty much anything. We've said we want a place where kids can go and read about fishing - where they don't have to wade through cussing and lewd remarks. We usually don't allow politics or religion discussions either but this hasn't gotten out of hand... and I for one have learned a few things. But as I give an inch - some have taken a mile. Don't ruin it.

Good Way to Start a Friday

Two of us had a good hunt this morning at a farm lake in Northern Greene Co. We could hear them coming in before legal shooting time or before we could even see them for that matter. Overcast morning so we got no help from the sun but at about 7:00 two flew right towards the decoys and as we shot,...ducks started going up everywhere in front of us. Two then four and then repeat was the order of the day and by 7:25 we had our limit of Mallards and Gadwalls. Ironic as it may sound more continued to try to come in as we picked up spent hulls and retrieved our birds. I forgot to take pics and even worse I forgot to save any flank feathers! We'll go again after Christmas and I'll remember then. These were fresh ducks and wanted to be where we were waiting. This observation is supported by the fact we never blew a call! Conditions/Equipment: Dense Overcast skies Temp 31 degrees No wind, completely glassy surface Thin sheet ice along shoreline extending out 18-24" 2 dozen, Dakota Mallard flocked head floating dekes (3 on a jerk-string) 1 Higdon Splashy Flasher motion decoy Merry Christmas to all, od

Crab orchard lake is full of them near the dam but they are usually tiny. Rend lake and Carlyle also good bets. PM me if you want to know a lake with some in the 12-15” range.

    Carry Weapon?

I don’t care if you have a weapon or not. Bad mouth, grab, my wife or daughters and me and my family will be leaving promptly. Depending on the circumstances, I might accept an apology or offer one for my, wife's, or child's behavior. The relationship might be over. Bye and pressing charges if you touch one of my daughters. Lots of options before you get into your Rambo fantasy. I’m not going to court & risking a civil lawsuit for a macho fantasy.

    Carry Weapon?

A knife can deploy faster than a gun at close range. Edge of your credit/debit card will slice too. Slash at the forehead, eyes, hands to disable. Used to carry but just extra weight IMO.

You are absolutely correct. However people are not born knowing how to perform CNC machining or even stick welding. The quickest way to learn those things is school. That is why the Eureka Springs schools maintain a building trades and supports a high school program at a multi district location. That gives the students a head start. However, the choices are not school or no school. The choice is what kind of school.

Congratulation to Josh Busby from Rogersville, Mo on punching his ticket to Bassmaster Classic next year. I went to college and was fraternity brothers with Josh and am excited to see him get this shot. It seems like MLF has taken over the fishing world and we just don't hear or see as much about Bassmasters or the Classic as we used to. I still think it would be a dream come true to fish on that stage. Good luck to Josh at Guntersville! https://www.bassmaster.com/news/busby-heading-classic

A Clouser, probably a #6 would be my choice on the flyrod. Sassy Shad on a 1/8 head if using spinning gear.

    Carry Weapon?

So, if you want to defend yourself or family you are are needing to leave the piece at home? An ol'boy up the road a piece used to say "gun? heck, I don't even carry a pocket knife ever since I got big enough to kill a man with my bare hands" and I heard an exchange once that went something like "that knife ain't long enough to kill me" followed by "I'll just stick it in you and walk around you then" ... Well the question was about a piece required for on duty work., so probably no wife, family or party involved; although the chances of an ahole seem pretty high. I have to think if carry is required by the job that use of it eventually is expected and protected.

    Crappie in December

Yep. Deep brush is a safe bet. In some areas the fish never really group up on structure, most of them are in open water chasing shad. In that case spooning can work really well. Last year this was all that really worked where I fished, if just fishing brush I would pick up a few, but it was pretty slow with a short period of action right before dark.

    Carry Weapon?

Getting around in the North STL Hood is no big deal. Wear a suit and tie, carry a brief case. Do your business and don't linger. The skells will think you are the lawyer or the insurance man there to help their neighbor(Only reason to go there). Show up casual and linger, you are a mark. Should not be there, desperate for drugs or foul poontang, and you have a pocket full of cash and a vehicle. Would be lucky to leave with an STD, empty wallet, and the vehicle.

    question

The increase in the cost of college has greatly outpaced inflation. Then you’re left with possibly hundreds of thousands in student loans. You better get a degree in the sciences or accounting or engineering. Combine that with the 100% proven fact that politics has entered the universities. It’s a total crap shoot. I’d say go to a local college first then spend your last 2 years where you want.

    question

Gentlemen, I have a BA in English with a minor in political science. The institution I attended was and still is considered one of the most effete, liberal, and expensive schools in the United States. (Edit: I went on scholarship and only had $10,000 of student loans.) Do you realize how offensive , incorrect, and tiresome some of your remarks have been? Talk about stereotyping.

Right, I'm thinking that Chet definitely benefitted from the timing. Imagine being a truly experienced photographer, entering a competition, and being beat out because someone has a soft heart for a dude that lost his foot in a chainsaw accident. The road to success these days passes over the Pitiful creek bridge.

    question

That right there may be the biggest problem with college tuition/debt and the ideology spread at universities. Sure go spend that money on that degree in Art History.....see how well you can sell yourself to get your first job. Then moan and groan when the system shafts you. Truth be told most of these people doing that are ignorant to the repercussions of their decisions and their parents don't steer them in the right direction to begin with.

    Fishing Goals 2020

Shouldn't be too challenging at all. I always like the first longear of the season. Then they can and do get in the way of catching different species. Though catching colorful spawning males does make them interesting other than just catching numbers.

    Fishing Goals 2020

My goal is to fish more in 2020 than I did this year as is with most I’d say. I slacked this year on my Flathead fishing I wanna get back to chasing them in 2020. Plan on fishing for more river walleye after the new year as well as crappie. Would love to hit the big lakes more my lake fishing was pretty good this past year, want to keep expanding on that and not just the rivers that I dearly love. Taking my son fishing more in 2020 my most important goal.

    question

we were never promised an easy life. we are hear to learn, gain knowledge and wisdom, and to try as best we can to like Christ. learn to have that pure charity of heart. each trial we go through is for us to learn from. it is either to help us individually or to enable us to help someone else going through that same trial. the only way back home is through Christ. all of our choices will have a consequence of some kind. always choose the right, and it will help any of us to stay on that straight and narrow path. as far as supernatural happening in your life, maybe you have had but never recognized it. just a unintentioned meeting with someone can be your supernatural meeting, or something that someone says. being in tune with the Spirit helps in knowing when those moments have happened. i would guess that most never really recognize when a special blessing is given to them. they come at any time from anyone. one can pray about something and sometimes you get the answer in your head, but most often, it comes in many other ways. when one exercises faith, it will then begin to strengthen one's testimony. reading your scriptures is a great place to start. bo

    question

And the person who decides that racist or sexist tendencies are a BAD THING is called a.... what? While I agree that judging someone based on gender or skin color ALONE (without even giving them a chance) is not cool, you are a liar if you claim no initial concern based upon it. My wife, who rips on me constantly about my "racist/sexist attitude", does quite a bit of buying/selling/trading via Facebook marketplaces. If she is meeting another white gal there's no hesitation or concern whatsoever, but if she's meeting a guy she needs someone to tag along with her. If she's meeting a black guy, or a Mexican dude....oh buddy....she wants ME to go with her, and wants ME out of the truck FIRST. Now what kinda hypocritical crap is going on there ? Has she ever had a problem with a black or Mexican fella? Nope, never. So what up, ya Ho?!!?? People are so full of BS and phoney ! It's real, everybody is like that, so own it and stop claiming to be non-judgemental when you obviously are, just because somewhere along the line someone decided that people shouldn't be that way. There's a reason for it and you know it......but we ain't getting into that HERE.

College indoctrinated me about chemistry and physics. I took no classes regarding politics. You are mistaken about what my education is in. I formed my political opinions elsewhere. In fact I couldn't tell you the political leanings of any of my professors in college. Most were foreign, couldn't care less, and politics wasn't discussed.

Wow man normally I ignore your crap on here because it’s obvious you’re a campus indoctrinated clown. This is a statement only a complete millennial would make who sounds mad. you mad bro??? About your situation??? making blanket statements about older Whites guy being entitled is pretty much showing us all you are a liberal puppet who only knows what the professors told him about the world. You obviously did not come from the school of hard knocks. you have a set of balls sitting behind a keyboard calling older white dudes entitled and calling guys kids “demon spawn” hahahaha this is classic
