  1. My share, these were big fish that had to be chunked. The 3 I cleaned were all males Phil and I sneaked back up to the Knob this morning, launching at 0600. Water temp at 85 and partly cloudy. Walleye and a Cruise Ship full of bass were where I left them. Phil has a few pic's to post, but for the record we caught 11 and lost 3 or 4 more heavy weights that spat it back at us. 5 keepers that need not be measured, 15 gills and just a load of bass that we cursed for biting and released. I say cursed but Phil was teasing them into biting on the Livescope and there was quite a b

    What's Cooking?

I might cook outside once in a while. Actually this is a more or less permanent fixture on my grilling station. Anything fried happens here. Not a fancy solution but man it works great. Can't begin to remember how old it is - but it's a long long way from new.

Cooler weather didn't completely shut Down the walleye. Don and Tisha got them a couple limits. 8 keepers and 12 shorts. 15 to 21 ft bottom bouncing

    Boats You Miss

I'm starting to miss my 1983 Charger 747 XLT. I bought it slightly used in 1986 and used it every year up till last year when I decided to get rid of it. Getting old and with a lot of lower back problems I was getting a little leery trying to launch it and getting it back on the trailer not to mention falling out of it. It had a 115hp Merc on it and I had very few problems problems with it over the years. Here's a couple of pictures of it taken only a couple years before I sold it.

  6. Most amateur anglers of middle class means cannot justify spending that much on top of the line stuff like that. If you fish professionally than you'll be at a significant disadvantage without it, so any guide, or tournament angler has to justify it. Mr. Wenners was with his friend, and the boat they were on must have been 50K or more, it was the nicest boat id ever seen up close. He said they were playing with a new set up so he could point the trolling motor and the livescope in 2 different directions. He pointed it around under the boat slips showing everything 75ft in front of him. I

    Ignition KEY !

Ok I can admit it. I screwed up... I searched for duplicate keys BEFORE I discovered the imprinted key code ON my original key.. I ordered a new one from Boats.Net.. LATER I researched Ebay "this time with the code" and a bunch of them were listed ! So there ya go. Peal back your rubber & look for the numbers..

  12. So you’re making me jealous, I can’t justify spending 6k on a trolling motor/fish finder combo. But I’m happy to hear how great it is. Maybe they will have some competition and drive the price lower.

  13. Made it down for a quick 2 hour outing. Committed to throwing a jerkbait for 90% of the time. Caught a white, a pretty spot, and a little smallie all on the silver shadow rap. Noticed a bunch of small baitfish in the shallows and decided it was time for a bucktail jig..about 3 casts later scored the big fish of the day...a chunk smallie I've probably caught 3 to 1 warm water species thus far in 2020...maybe the trout are more discerning or maybe they're more focused on scuds up near the dam...tough to know.

    What's Cooking?

Anybody seen one of these? A waring SB30 professional single burner. This thing is neat. it has a cast iron hot plate. I looked on Amazon it is a 175 dollar item. Did I pay that? HECK NO! We have found a lady that does some estate work. Ends up with a bunch of stuff that she sells. I spied this plus a couple other items. We asked her how much. She said fifteen bucks for all three pieces. I had no idea what I had until on the way home. It was brand new. So it got a work out this evening. We cook a bunch of bacon at a time for BLT's. No sense in stinking up the kitchen so we turned on this think

  18. They can't for the most part read very well and won't bite just cause your boat is plastered with Garmin gear, but If you count the Force trolling motor this is new wave we have yet to even remotely have anything to compare it to. That trolling motor is completely sick. Lifts and lets down with a single finger. Whisper quiet. Fast as an alley cat with the dog catcher on its tail and positive locking within inches.maintaining it thru any wave or wind. Game Changer. But they still got to bite your junk.

  21. Marcus is an excellent fisherman and got started with people that knew what was going on. Bill Davenport and Marcus win and place by working hard prior to any tournament on either Lake O. or Truman. Marcus wins prior to the tournaments by planting seeds and harvesting the fruits of his labor on tournament day. I would only shudder to know the number of piles those guys have put in over the years. Bill Beck helped Marcus to no end on Table Rock. He has not done as well since Bill passed. Marcus has connections everywhere and networks as good as any fisherman. On raw fish catching and

  22. Our generation patterns on Lake Taneycomo have been almost identical for the past six weeks. About 7,000 cubic feet per second of water flows from 9 p.m. until 1 p.m., then 12,000 c.f.s. flow from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. It's been pretty easy to plan a fishing trip when the pattern is this consistent. Trout fishing is pretty good early in the day until about 9 a.m., then it gets a little slower. When the heavier water starts flowing, it gets really tough but not impossible. Guess what I'm saying . . . for the best fishing start early! Our water temperature has risen to almost 56 degree

  24. This post brought me out of hiding. I'm not a lake fisherman at all, have never even used a fish finder. Do you think these electronics will have a negative impact on the fishery in the future? I hope not. Maybe most lake fisherman don't have the electronics yet but they will in the future when the prices go down. Folks will for sure be catching more since it sounds like it's a real game changer. Do you think more people will keep more fish and cause the fishing to be worse since there's not as many fish? Or the fish are more heavily pressured whereas before, they didn't see near as many lures

  26. I prefer the Dam, Sterrett Creek, and the Osage Bluff areas. Too many trees, stumps, and fence rows near Buck Saw and Sparrow Foot. I just came back from a weekend fishing at the Dam area. Caught 30 fish per night, 2 nights in a row. Also caught 15 white bass.

    What in the world?

I'm actually surprised that more guys don't have them. Boat covers are a PIA, and if an enclosed air conditioned trailer is not too much for a stupid horse then it shouldn't be a rarity for a bass boat. Besides, look at all that extra real estate for sponsor bling!

    What's Cooking?

So after a morning of fishing we came home to what are we going to cook this afternoon? A trip to the freezer for a package of wild turkey carnita meat. Then to the garden for squash, cubanelle peppers and a couple jalapenos. As the turkey was thawing the grill was fired up and the veggies were cut up. A splash of olive oil and some tajin seasoning for some citrus flavor. With grill hot and apple wood smoking on the coals the basket put on and cooking. Pat heated the turkey meat and put on some BilletHead BBQ sauce. That became a sandwich and there was some of the microwave bread and butter pi

    Crappie Trolling

I went Sunday morning. Started at 5:45 am and stopped at about 10:00 or so. Trolled mostly cranks (bandits mostly) and a few jigs with heavy weights due to the speed. Took a while to find crappie but I located them in a creek channel along a steep bank in about 25 fow. Fish were about 10-14 feet down.

  42. That sounds just exactly like the fish I found yesterday morning. With a live scope you could set and mess with them and find the one that was most interested in it and target him and sometimes get him to bite.

    What's Cooking?

Good day here and got a lot of things done including some cooking. Started off the day with a bagel and cup of coffee on the back porch. Wonderful weather right now even though we have been missing the rain some of you all have been getting. Then it was time to make some bread out of the new book we just got. This would be white bread, called Saturday morning bread. May need to rename it depending on when you make it. So dough was mixed and turned. Within an hour and a half needed to turn twice more. Then a five hour first raise. While this was going on dirt was worked and a bed of Bok Choy wa
