Saturday was overcast. Hoped some bass would hit topwater in one of the big murky lakes. They didn't...not for me, at least. I switched to panfish flies and caught a bluegill and some Green Sunfish. Lots of other anglers here. Saw roadkill armadillo on the highway outside the park. Drove past it 3 times before it finally dawned on me what it was. 😅 I hit one of the C&R I'd been to before. Caught bluegills, hybrid sunfish, and green sunfish there. Also hit another C&R lake for the first time. Caught Redears (pretty small), bluegills, green sunfish, and 3 Golden Shine

Hey guys, you are all fine to believe what you believe. If you are kind to others, bust your posterior to provide for your family, and hold yourself to high standards, welcome around my fire. If you bring good booze, and funny stories that is a plus too!

I just think the anti-Trumpers need to let it go, for their own well being. It's going to be a Trump administration for quite some time. When the old man's term is over then Don Jr. will smash the following election.

Trump wont show his tax returns because he has never paid any income tax...Real Estate developers only pay income taxes when they sell property for a big gain. Cash flow is great, but its all offset by depreciation. Kids working at McD's probably pay more income tax than DJT. I'm sure his returns are legit, because they are done by a top 100 CPA firm, and they don't do crap returns like Block.

If you are referring to the TCJA....The legislation gave most people a few crumbs, soaked the upper middle class high wage earners, gave public companies a 15% tax cut, and a 20% tax cut for small business owners. My business clients were making out like bandits with the 20% QBID deduction until this virus stuff hit...And most made out like bandits with the PPP virus stimulus. I help them do it. Our stupid govt, makes stupid rules and I help my customers benefit from their stupid rules. I will always have secure employment thanks to the idiots in DC & States across the country.

  10. Put in around 6:30. Water was up and murky. Ran 4 miles to see a guy on my starting spot. Ran another mile and started catching spots on a spook junior I painted. Switched to a black/blue jig and caught quite a few more while fishing back down. Different guy on my starting spot. I Went on past catching spots here and there nothing big but fun. The rafts and pleasure boaters showed up thick. Ran down past all of them and caught this smallie on the spook junior. Didn’t quite touch 18 inches. But he absolutely crushed it. His back was out of the water a good 2’ away. Pack

  11. Normally I wouldn’t even put a report up for a quick trip out. Not sure how much information I have to help anyone else out BUT: we finally found a little Topwater action! Been few and far between this spring/summer for me. After some engine trouble got our day off to a late start (and we were limited to staying close to the ramp) we pulled up on a well known main lake point. I was just praying for some kind of action since I had my 13 yr old daughter with me and it had been a rough start to the morning. As luck would have it- for the first time all summer I found some Topwater f

  12. I got out on the river this week. To start out, it was in the 50's when I put in. That cold for August . I could see my breath on the river. I had three first on this trip. I bought 3 difference types of Z Man Chatterbaits, never fished them before. So I used chatterbaits for the first time, caught my first smallmouth with chatterbait and my first walleye on a chatterbait. I've caught walleyes before but never on a chatterbait. I knew I had to leave one on my rods all the way down the river or it would be to easy to put on something I had more confidence in. Turns out I now have a new lure in

  15. I've found that the pink power worm is still highly effective when the water is clear and the sun is out IF you get it deep enough. I'll fish the worm 10'-12 deep in areas where I just start to lose sight of the bottom and make sure I'm sitting at least 20' away the area that I'm casting at. Without a long rod though, it's easier to just fish a jig in those deeper areas. If you're a bit crazy like me, toss the worm out and then hold the rod between your legs while you fish a jig at the same time. Works with a micro jig too, but they hold on that pink worm a lot longer. 😁

  16. Not related to the inboard question, but as far as outboards, I don’t let hours bother me on a used boat. I’ve seen just as many brand new motors getting powerheads as I have old ones. I’m looking for a well kept package by an owner who used it a lot. In my humble opinion, running a boat enough that the gas stays fresh, as well as letting it warm up enough before you go WOT, are the two things that make a motor last the longest. no matter how creampuff, a boat that is used one weekend a year is gonna have issues, in my opinion.

  17. i take a small 2 gallon gas can with me as an emergency or backup. I believe my tank is a 6 gallon. I can run from wildcat to white hole and fish down past rim and run back up to wildcat on that 8 gallons of gas with a little left to spare. much easier for me to handle that extra 2 gallon can then try to get a bigger tank or stuff another tank in that small space.

I might be totally wrong but i believe the engine has to be on to add hours. I was also told by a Mercury Master Tech, to never let my Merc idle while i go and put my truck and trailer up off the launch ramp, as it will add hours like crazy. Say you launch and visit for a minute or two by the time your ready to roll that is probably going to be 10 minutes of idle time added to your meter. Everyone wants to steal a used boat by claiming the number of hours effect the price. For every 5 or 6 times you launch you put an additional hour on the meter you are killing yourself and that motor

    Crappie Trolling

Hey rzbker, I can't give you specific advise regarding catching crappie on Beaver Lake like Lance 34 who is the real pro or Greg B who is catching on rapidly but I can help you with general information on the crappie population. You'll have a much better chance of catching crappie on Beaver Lake in the mid and upper parts of the lake. Generally speaking there are greater numbers of crappie the further you go up lake. The further south you go towards the two river arms of the lake (War Eagle and White River arms) the denser the crappie population is. The crappie prefer the more fertile upper ha

I guess someone must have dumped their shiners after fishing there. I catch one occasionally but never three or more in a day. I love fishing for redear , once they hit 9 inches they are a ton of fun on ultralight tackle. Not catching as many like past couple of years probably due to more people fishing and keeping them due to Covid. You're catching some fun size ones. One of those c&r lakes at Busch has some nice crappie up to 15 inches but haven't fished it in a few years.

  21. Still practicing with the video editing. I fished Stockton lake on 8/4...what a beautiful day to be on the water. It actually felt like I was back in Maine! I have linked to a video of myself landing a 18 inch walleye and a 17.5 inch smallie. https://youtu.be/bZCIeoDF3z8 Oh and BTW...I found an anchor while fishing. If anyone wants to claim it, please let me know...(picture below). I have no use for it!

    Crappie Trolling

Caught them this morning trolling cranks. Fished mid lake area 7-11 am. Caught 16-17, 12 were nice keepers and a few small bass and walleye. All the fish were in 20 feet of water scattered near brush and cover. Don’t waste time in the channels, no fish there.

  33. You're mistaken. They all hang out here at my place quite a bit, and because I am the kinda guy that I am.....they speak freely and honestly. They work there for the reasons I said they did. A few actually ARE starting their own businesses.....and THAT is how they are getting it done. I don't think you realize how much some guys are willing to fork out just to have dancing bow ornaments on their Fountains and MTI's . Again.... undocumented (perfectly legal) cash. And thankfully our current President is the type of guy that is ok with that. 😊👍

  40. Rode a buddy's Sportster and didn't really see the appeal. The CB500F that I had at the time was faster, cheaper, smoother, and more economical. Out of all the bikes I've had, my 93 KLR 650 is the one I miss the most. I'm gonna buy one of those Chinese 250 dual sports, I have no desire to ride on the street again but still enjoy an evening ride on the back roads.

  43. All 19' boats are very rough compared to a 21 footer, that is not apples to apples. Skeeter has made a fantastic fishing platform for years. They have had a couple of goof ups along the way but they are still in business, and I believe will be since they are owned by Yamaha as that is the number 1 outboard motor company in the world. It allows Yamaha to put performance packages together to highlight their high end motors. Legend was a fantastic boat, better performance by far than any Skeeter better ride, better ergonomics and fish-ability. The reason they are no more is there was a b

  45. Made it down for a quick 2 hour outing. Committed to throwing a jerkbait for 90% of the time. Caught a white, a pretty spot, and a little smallie all on the silver shadow rap. Noticed a bunch of small baitfish in the shallows and decided it was time for a bucktail jig..about 3 casts later scored the big fish of the day...a chunk smallie I've probably caught 3 to 1 warm water species thus far in 2020...maybe the trout are more discerning or maybe they're more focused on scuds up near the dam...tough to know.

    7-27-20 Report

Had an outstanding trip on Monday. My friends son landed a 18 1/4” smallmouth. See pic below. What an incredible fish. I caught a couple that measured 15” and my first spotted bass (12 1/2”) on JF. We ran into the biologist from the feds doing water testing. He said the water quality right now is the best it has been in years. Hope it stays that way. Tight lines everyone.
