  1. Rumor has it I may get to share a field with in the near future Dada ;).
  2. Been slim pickins for me as well. Shot a few birds every trip but not seeing anywhere the numbers we normally do, which isn't alot compared to other areas ;). Definitely been a odd year for waterfowling here.
  3. Actually hope the small water hardens up down here and forces them to big water but I don't think it will.
  4. Your welcome. Finally seen a couple flocks of gaddies so it could finally be starting for us BS duckers ;). Sorry to hear about the boat, was hoping it was going to be a quick fix for you have back on the water, maybe I should of kidnapped you and forced you to show me how to fish for Walters ;).
  5. Managed to put 8 crappie and a decent yellow perch in the livewell but had to sort thru several smaller crappie to get the 8 keepers. Also spent about an hour graphing fishing and vertical jigging a spoon but all's I could muster up about 20 spots biggest being 15 inches and shortest about 11. Fun watching the jig on the Lowrance Hook5 and then then just blow up with fish all around it. Crappie caught on soft plastic crappie jigs and minnows off brush pile in 16 to 20 fow . Yellow perch and spots were all caught in 20 to 25 fow jigging a white and purple spoon about 5 ft off the bottom. Water temps were 51 to 53.
  6. To change the subject, I did see a couple flocks of gaddies while fishing yesterday so maybe things will start picking up fowl wise but won't be able to find out til maybe Tuesday :(.

  8. Usually wait til the last 2 weeks to break em out but it may be time ;).
  9. If divers taste a lil fishy id imagine that flamingos might have a shrimpy taste to them ;).
  10. Hes not trying to hijack it hes just rubbing it in since I did put "ducks" in the title ;).
  11. Congrats on the green Marty. Can't say as if I've ever seen a leach on a duck before. Definately been a odd season. Hopefully this cold front will bring things back to some normalcy.
  12. Good day to be water, none to light wind and decent temps. Only could fish for a couple hours before having to get my son to work. Managed to put 14 crappie in the livewell along with a decent bluegill. All caught on soft plastic jigs on 1/8th oz jig heads vertical jigging over brush in 16 to 18 fow. Color didn't seem to matter as we caught them or had hits on every color we tied on. Lost quite a few jigs but seemed like we did best dropping the jig in the brush and trying to finesse them around the limbs. Shortest crappie was 10.5 inches biggest was right at 14.5 inches.
  13. Did not realize that Marty, I'll see what I can try to salvage off it.
  14. .....game of a wack-a-merganser ;). Did manage to scratch out a few and missed our shot at a flock of hooded mergansers and a ringneck but it's all good. The highlight, or downside depending on how you look at it, of the day was the playing wack a mole with a crippled mergansers. Dang thing would dive under just as we'd shoot but 6 shots later we finally prevailed ;).
  15. Winter series tourney out K Dock with one going on today.
  16. Something happened today, although not to me directly but got me really thinking about if it was to happen to me would my wife or kids really know where to look? No names and not passing judgement as this could of happened to anyone of us and just glad it had a good outcome as it could of been much worse. Decided to go fishing on Bull Shoals for a few hours this morning and had originally planned on putting in at Beaver Creek but decided to stay closer and went to K Dock. As I was putting in a female and a male approached me asking which direction I was going and if the female could ride along to look for her husband that she hadn't heard from since yesterday and confirmed that his truck and trailer were still in the parking lot. Said he normally fishes down around Mincey so had a general area to head to. Parked the truck as Waterpatrol was pulling in. Talked to the trooper briefly , said they had Western and Central checking the upper end and he was waiting on a spotter to assist with checking down from there and the the female and I headed down lake to start looking. Didnt make it quite to Hogan when a boat came around the bend back up the lake. Not thinking it would be who we where looking for we flag them down checking to see if they might of seen something when the female jumps up and says that's them. Turns out they spent the night on the bank after they got out of the boat yesterday sometime and it drifted off. One of them tried to swim after it but realized it was a lost cause and swam back to shore. After a long cold night they managed to flag someone down after daylight who was able to help them track down there boat and head back. Glad they are safe and back with their loved ones as this could of had a completely different outcome. The part that got me thinking was yea my wife generally knows where i put in when i go fishing but wouldnt have a clue on which way to go from there.

    What's Cooking?

    Looks mighty tasty Marty.
  18. Blessed with another awsome sunrise and busted a flock of geese off the pond that we'd hoped might return but never did. Very slow day numbers wise but of the 8 ducks seen we managed to drop 7 between 3 of us and the 8th left missing a few feathers by 11am before calling it a day.
  19. Looks like a good day indeed.
  20. No complaints from me. Some get worked up about only shooting greenheads with the 2 bonus birds, I'd rather shoot a good mix of ducks any day.
