Our middle boy caught this one for his GF's dinner. We also had released 3 shorter ones.

Other than the Jerkbait replies, I am still on track with the burning of the crank & spinner baits. The jerkbaits I am new to. Seems mostly cooler temp driven, stop & go.
Thanks for the replies.. Except for the fire pit methods, despite what others think, burnt crank baits do not taste like chicken !

No they do not have a restaurant.  There is one at Big M but I have no idea how much longer this season they will be open. Probably thru the holiday.

We are so privileged and blessed to live on such an incredible lake. Years ago, when my Dad and I took two trips from Chicago to Table Rock, I never thought I'd have a place there. I wish he were still alive to see it. Nothing quite like the bluff walls, soaring hills, wildlife, and oh... the incredible fishing.
Started my weekend on Thursday night and threw a Snag Proof Frog around the mouth of Butler Creek. Within an hour I had 4 largemouth. All coming from the outside edge of the bushes. See pics attached. Once I got about half way back into the creek, the bite died. It was great to load up on so many keeper in a short time. Smallest was 2.5 - largest, looked like about a 4. Friday AM had me chasing some schoolers... didn't do so well, but got about 6 spots. Friday night, went back to the same frog pattern and got only one. Just goes to show things change quickly.
Saturday I met a buddy and went up by Big M. Tough day... managed to get about 4, all coming on a jig.
Today was interesting. Went out and tried my topwater pattern and caught only a few. Nothing on the jig either. Decided to practice my jerk bait fishing, only not on bass... but trout. Went way up into the White by the old bridge. Within a couple hours I had about 8 - two Brownies and 6 Rainbows. What a blast! So bummed, I hooked a really nice Brown, maybe 4-5lbs and he came off at the boat. What a weekend!

I don't eat out very often - maybe once a year. That means I have little current experience. Sparky's in town has a bar, and I think the Island Bar and Grill will do meals and mixed beverages. I do know more than one person who joined the Elks club up by Sunfest so they can have a drink with their meal.

Update: We bought on Holiday Island Drive. Leased a slip, got my lift moved for 400 bucks !!! ($500 with a new motor).. Boat is up on lift now. I have to work 11 more shifts. Sold the lake home, and Nebraska house, juggling odds & ends for most of May with inspections & closings. Looking forward to getting settled in the end of May. There goes the neighborhood !

This is the first fish my son caught on Holiday Island last year. He was pretty nervous about giving that monster a hand.

If the kids are small and bluegill your target, the flat point right at the mouth of the marina cove always has hand size and larger bluegill. From time to time a walleye will be there as well. Start at the carved tree (eagle) and work back toward the cove opening very slowly dragging a split shot rig. Near the mouth the point hooks out toward the channel for quite a way.

HI Drive is not heavy traffic except for golf carts. My slip at the marina is about $900, but I had to by the lift off the previous owner. I had to wait on a list for about a year before a slip with a lift came open as I did not want to pay for a brand new lift. The new concessionaire for the marina has not yet set winter hours and I don't have his number. When you rent a slip they give you a magnetic pass key that you use to access the boat when the gate is locked.

I am sorry. I did not intend to insult. I only meant that much of what I have learned has already been written and posted. Please forgive me if I seemed abrupt.
