    Crappie?

Been wanting to go up the little sac around the old steel bridge. Just wondered if anyone has heard of any crappie reports in that area. I know the area closes off above Aldrich sometime in October, but is it alright to put in at the steel bridge and go up river.
  2. Has anyone heard of crappie being caught up the Pomme arm above Bolivar Landing
  3. They have been repairing/replacing the bridge at Hermitage. Maybe thats why they are holding water.
  4. I caught a nice bunch yesterday up Flat creek above the bridge, all were holding tight to wood cover. I did catch 3 or 4 off the bank, but there just not really there yet for me. Minnows provided the best bite.
  5. I went to Flatcreek this morning, ended up with 8 keepers. The wind made it hard to fish. Water temp was 42/43, my pattern this time of year is stay in the channel and drag a jig a couple feet off the bottom, the trick is to use a heavy jig, 1/4 on the bottom and 1/8 24 inches obove the bottom one. go slooooowwww, keep the line as vertical as possible. On nice days like today, you'll have lots of company.
  6. Finally had the chance to make the trip to Stockton today. We put in at mutton creek about 8:30 this morning. The brush piles I normally fish were a little shallower since the lake is low, but the fish were still there. 15 to 20 fow caught 23 keepers before we ran out of minnows. Good luck to all.
  7. here's some trolling info that you may find helpful. A couple of years ago the tv show, G3 sportsman aired a show featuring J R Oldham, a guide on stockton, tolling for crappie. They were using Berkley flicker shads made for walleye in chartruese pearl, there are two sizes, the smaller one works best. it dives to about 8 to 10 ft. We tried it and are hooked, it works !Right now the best place to find them for me has been where the channel runs close to the bluffs in about 20feet of water, two of us in the boat limited out twice last week. IN the spring when they are spawning, it is a great way to catch them in mid day when they move out off the bank. It requires a light action rod and no more than 6 lb test. you can rip one out of their mouth pretty easy. if your in the right place you usually get a couple bonus walleyes too
  8. Thanks Straw Hat, but what about getting a boat in at caplinger? I havenever been there. My grandpa used to go there alot, and I've heard some good stories about it. I've got a 14 ft jon boat I could use to distance myself from the crowds or maybe there's not room for a boat.
  9. Straw hat, are they letting water out now? I've been watching the SPA Generation schedule and it has been showing stockton at 0. So are they just letting water out and not generating elec. I have noticed the water level is going down. If theres good current, there might be some good catfishing below the dam. Also, can you put a boat in anywhere near Caplinger.
  10. What a dedicated fisherman! 9 hours in 90 plus heat, Kudos to you straw hat,
  11. Boys, I just talked to a guy I know who fished Turkey creek two nights in the last week. He's one of those lucky ones that always seems to find and catch fish. Said he caught them on timber 18 feet deep, 1 crank off the bottom. Go get em
  12. Put in at Mill creek lastnight just before 8 pm. We fished from mill creek to pt. 8. I stayed with the jig and had 10 fish with 1 keeper K . My boy throwed the worm most of the night. He had 5 fish ,but three were keepers with the best being a 3lb K. We spent 30 min under a dock around 9, had a good rain come thru. Bob
  13. I,ve got a 94 150 johnson faststike on my nitro. When I start mine and go to take off it has to be trimmed all the way down or the fuel wont get to where it is supposed to be and it will die. It could be that simple or it could be your power pack, mine went bad and it would run then it wouldn't run then it would die going down the lake. I changed it and everything was fine. If it is your powerpack, they're over $300 locally, but igot mine on line for under $200 and they're easy to change. On another note I fished yesterday at mutton, I put my report on Predators Greenfield page
  14. I have to correct myself, I looked at the wrong info on the dam. I don't think they were running water on Tuesday. So maybe he was just looking for an excuse as to why he wasn't catchig fish.
  15. That's what my neighbor tells me. He said he never caught a fish Tuesday until late in the evening, when they shut the water off. I looked at the generation table and sure enough, the dam was running most of the day on tuesday until late afternoon.I've never put the two together when I couldn't get bit. Does this make that big of an impact or is it like the old saying," wind out of the east the fish bite the least" ?
