Macsimus reacted to Daryk Campbell Sr in Rte 66 State Park and My New Boat
Took my newly finished (almost) boat to Rte 66 state park for the easy boat launch.  I wanted to test out my new toy.  I bought this boat to flip, but decided it was a diamond in the rough.  (Polished turd was recently done on here.)  With some help from the little ones, I was able to transform my junker to a jewel.   My son helped me until after midnight last night with the last minute touches to be able to launch, and tow safely.  My son caught the only fish on this trip, (I can't say I wasn't trying), although it was really a test and tune trip.   I am very proud and satisfied with what it has turned out to be.   I don't have many interior shots, but I like the comforts so far.

I seen a gray Scion at the launch with 3 OAF stickers on it, not sure who's it was.

Donna and I haven't been to Table Rock since May for a variety of reasons, but we ventured back up Saturday. Got off to a slow start so didn't arrive until 12:30 but got in a good 4 hours of fishing.
Stayed within 3-4 miles of Big M and found the fish biting pretty well despite the post-front conditions. Having a brisk north wind made it cold but certainly didn't hurt the bite any.
Found the fish to be very main-lake oriented but not necessarily deep. Caught them from 5 to 35 feet, mostly on transition areas and points. Crank baits, jerk bait, Ned and finesse jig all produced.
Ended the 4-hour outing with 16 total and five decent keepers. Good mix of LM and spots, along with one meanmouth. Never scored a brown fish, so we missed the TR slam.
All in all, a cold but good afternoon on the water.

Macsimus got a reaction from Daryk Campbell Sr in Lake House Rental?
Hey Guys, we're looking for a house to rent on or near the lake for March & April 2020. It's mostly just for the two of us and we are mature, retired folks with our party days in the far distant past. 😀
We've been renting a house in the Blue Eye area for the last 6 years but it looks as though that has fallen thru for next year. I've been scouring VRBO and AirBnB without much success and was just hoping maybe one of you might have a lead on a place. I bring a boat so I would need a place to park it with electrical access. I love to fish all over the lake and so have no wish to keep it in a marina. We would prefer the Blue Eye area.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Probably regional. Toothy fish that we disdain up here are the northern pike, aka slimers, aka toothy critters, aka jackfish in Canada, eh. Actually good eating but tiresome as they bite off a lot of tackle. I would never risk a MB jerkbait up here. 😉

One of the funniest things I’ve noticed about the Upper Mississippi above Minneapolis is that everyone you talk to thinks their section of the river is better than anyone else’s. That river is good for 100 miles.
The bass look different from different sections of the river, the farther North you go, they look like an oversized blue gill, very tall from top to bottom. The farther Downstream, the fish look closer to a Missouri smallmouth. But guess what? You put them on the scale and they weigh the same. It all depends on what kind of water you like to fish.

Sounds very challenging. I've only done float and wade trips. Just think of the bright side however - no jet fleas or wakeboard boats. 😀

Including today's first two periods, if I understood it correctly, the MLF guys have caught the following:
    LM         2,800       4,846lbs
    Spots    2,615       3,804lbs
    SM           562       1,005lbs
Not sure where they got the 12,655 lbs total as I added it up and got 9,655 total lbs.
Still, some pretty darn good catchin'!

Generous advice, Bill, as always. What I admire is the fact you do not need to build your rep and yet you still handout facts.

Do it let him fool you on the pronunciation.   You don't fish in the Mississip'ah river. 😁

Indeed. But, now that I know how to correctly pronounce 'Missouri', I feel better about myself.
How are ya, lad? Did you make it down for a spring trip this year?

They're known as government dogs up here. 😀  I have never been able to enjoy staring down a hole in the ice hoping to catch a 6" bluegill. Now a heated shack with a good card game and a pot of chili on the stove is an excellent treatment for cabin fever.

Lol. That pic was taken in Feb. Here it snows in Nov and just stays until April. None of the nancy snows that are gone in a day. And yes, I would prefer rain.

No offset or door size problem thank goodness, but I did have a garage depth problem.  With my son's help, we added a dog house to the back wall that provides space for the motor. It hangs about 6" off the ground so no footings. It allowed me to stuff a 20' 4" boat into 20' 11" of available space thanks to the way in which BassCat minimizes trailer length. Straight in, no angle parking, and the missus is able to park in the other stall which ensures general happiness.
