Yes I agree, the market fundamentals seemed pretty solid before this hit. My old financial advisor always told us to have 3-6 months of expenses liquid in case of an emergency....he was right

Th wife and I cannot complain. We have been blessed over the years. We draw teacher pensions, SS, and she receives a small pension from her early careers. We are fully bought in here and only pay a monthly.
Unfortunately all else we saved, except for small cash reserve in the bank, is in mutual funds. It stings to see the market drop that much.

Okay, so we tried crappie on Wednesday but there were a bunch of people on our community dock -- only two of whom belonged there -- and they had cleaned out the crappie.  We went out in the boat but had no luck.
But we went out yesterday and I did catch a short bass on the orange Wiggle Wart.  I would cast it all the way to shore where it would snag on leaves under the water 30% of the time.  I mean, the fishing was sloooow BUT I did have THREE other strikes, even though I caught none of them.  I was retrieving fairly slow most of the time although I would alternate with a retrieve, stop, retrieve.  Unfortunately, I cannot remember precisely what I was doing when I got the strikes.  By the way, all of the strikes took place midway from shore to our boat.  BUT I also tried fishing the depth of water where the strikes were coming -- about 10 to 12-feet -- but got no strikes in that area.  It is like they were following the bait out from the shore or close to it.
Water is clearing up nicely.  It is still stained but better than it was the last time I reported in.
I think we will try to go out again on Monday or Tuesday.  I'd been hoping to go out over the weekend but the weather is looking sort of 'iffy.'
Thank you for your report, slothman.  I had tied on a spinnerbait but I didn't use it.  I did use the Ned rig with no luck; I used a black lizard Carolina-rigged with no luck; and the WiggleWart seemed to do the best even though it was just one fish.  My husband never had a single bite but then he was using a FireTiger Wiggle Wart and maybe that made the difference.
Oh, two of my bites AND the one fish were off of or near secondary points; the other bite was about halfway down a gravel bank off of a main lake point that was NOT on the channel side.  The wind, which was fierce yesterday, sort of dictated where we were fishing.  Our trolling motor is simply no good at handling the wind and my husband will NOT buy another one.  Go figger, right?  No matter where we went, we were in the wind as it was shifting around pretty good.  Another factor probably against us was that the prevailing winds yesterday here where we fish were from the east and southeast.  Sometimes wind direction doesn't seem to matter; yesterday, perhaps, it did.
Not many anglers out yesterday so I think the bite is slow or fairly non-existent.  The ones that I did see, including two with dual power poles (which means they are serious) were concentrating solely on secondary points, if that helps anyone.

It would be a very bad time to try to retire with any kind of money problems at all.  Or worse, be a young family living paycheck to paycheck like a lot of them are in today's world.

Money is made when the market goes down just like when it goes.  There’s always someone on the other side of the trade.  Short sellers are mopping it up

If you find out, please report back. I’d love to know the answer to that. I’m gonna have to go check the closet and see what I’ve got in stock. Maybe I could buy a new trolling motor and all the fancy electronics with my Lysol spray and some TP.

Definitely easier said than done( especially with kids).
Being completely debt free is an incredibly amazing feeling though.

I saw 1 can sell for $65,000. I just don't get it man... The auction started at under $20 too
If people are willing to bid sky high and then pay it, I guess it's not price gouging then really. Hope you find several cans!

31 mile mark at the point by Linn Creek cove at the convergence of the osage and niangua. I agree that it is super weird here. I understand how the way they do it here makes more sense to people in some ways, but in other ways, like you mentioned, it becomes more difficult.

I did not find a single mushroom on my walk from the driveway to the dock, but I did catch a limit of white crappie. I was fishing at my SIL's dock at the N37 according to fw's calculations. Only 5 female crappie in the bunch and the males were not colored up yet. Six to seven foot deep over 15 feet of water. And they were not very aggressive, more like a hang on dead weight kind of bite.

It was a tough day for most of my bass club today. Only one limit brought in. The wind was brutal. I caught three nice keepers on a spinnerbait earlier in the day for a little over 9 pounds. I only managed one other short fish. Looks like more people are starting to catch them on LOZ, but it definitely isn’t a great bite yet.

Really nice Lake O report thanks for posting.  Have not read back on your post but what mile mark are you fishing?  Guide buddy fished the dam area today and said it was extremely challenging.   He also said the pleasure boats were out in complete droves.
Another buddy fishing the Mid Lake possibly where you are said he  has been getting bit decent 45 mile mark.  Most are in gravel pockets on a ned but that is pretty limited info. Said skinny bucks but he can get bit.  Most fish in the 10' range and it had to be just gravel pockets.  Said it was like watching grass grow but better than sitting in his lake house.
If your 60 mile mark up the spoonbillers are out in droves and the crappie spider riggers are just getting started.  Not many riggers yet in the major creeks but they are catching lots of crappie.  Size has been pretty small so far, according to the reports from the guys with their feet in the water.
    Good Luck

Hubby and I were out 'social distancing' on the Lake yesterday and, boy, was the Lake crowded.  Go-fasts, cruisers, and LOTS of bass boats.  Even some pesky waverunners -- isn't it too early for those knotheads??  LOL!  Anyway, we found 55-degree stained water near the backs of coves but caught NOTHING during our four hours of fishing.  What's more, no one with whom we spoke from boat lengths away had caught anything either, unless they were lying to us.  (No, LIE??) (LOL!)  We were in a spot where we could see guys trying LOTS of different things but never saw anyone pull in a fish.  We tried Rogues, pointers, Megabasses, jig and pigs, Carolina-rigged worm, spinnerbaits, Wigglewarts, did everything we could think of and got two halfhearted strikes in 4 hours -- probably from big shad.  We will be heading out again in the next couple of days because we arrived back in Missouri from Florida last Friday and we still have another 8 days of serious social distancing to complete.  And I'll bet we will have many more after those 8 days are up, too.

I think using touneyx is a great idea for a solution to running modern bass tournaments. I’d love to see that become a thing around here.

I fully agree. We are ruining a great fishery with all of the tournaments on LOZ. I feel like it gets more difficult every year to catch fish. There are lots of great fish on this lake for sure, but I feel like they are just becoming more and more difficult to find and catch.  It is well known that if you want to catch good sized retreads, you need to go to one place on this lake because there at least 4-5 tournaments (and often many more than that) out of that one location every week pretty much year round. The fish I catch there are usually decent sized fish, but they always look so sickly.

This is true. Unfortunately, some just won’t. I had a student a few years back that had two kids before she was 17. She straight told me that she didn’t need to pay attention in class VP because it didn’t matter if she graduated or not. Her life goal was to live on government assistance. Her mom did the same thing and so did her grand mother (all their lives) and it was all she knew or cared about. Believe me, she knew exactly how to play the system to get absolutely everything she could possibly get from it. It blew my mind what she told me she could get from the government. Kinda made me want to just give up and quit working myself. She was getting almost as much in benefits doing nothing as I was teaching full time plus extracurricular activity work.

If you voice any concerns regarding the relentless shuffling of bass, you are immediately catagorized (by the pro fisherman wannabes) as an anti-tournament, tree hugging idiot.   There's a handful around here that are reluctant to bring their boats to me for service...,so believe it or not they will have their dad, uncle, or brother drop it off and pick it up.   🙄 Whatever.
I've had many conversations/debates about it, and so far nobody has answered my favorite question, which is simply......If the amount of fish relocation going on NOW is not a problem, then at what point would you agree that it was?     Where can the line be drawn?    Even MDC elects not to reply to that question.
