  1. In case anyone wants to sign the petition. https://www.change.org/p/keep-ar-waterways-free-of-invasive-species-support-agfc-wild-caught-baitfish-proposals?recruiter=733476377&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=share_email_responsive
  2. Ethe gulls arrived a couple of weeks ago. "Nature's fish finders" ?
  3. I was out yesterday enjoying the great weather found a school outside PC in 40 fow, couldn't get em to take. Didn't have any live bait, all the shad I saw were 30 ft deep. Heading out tomorrow and Tuesday, hopefully we will do better.
  4. I plan on getting out some between Christmas & New Years. Good rule of thumb is head the opposite direction of me and you will probably find fish! ?
  5. I'm having problems netting shad- everything I find is in 30 fow- are you finding them shallow somewhere?

    Finally!!

Nice Bill! probably saw you as I definetly saw a couple of boats right next to each other- thought they were jigging/spooning. I got a 34" 18lb'r today myself.
  7. I dropped by last weekend at it looks like this is almost complete. The ramp is in and they are working on a walkway/ handicap access. It is a nice launch with a big parking area- guessing it will probably put more pressure on the stretch between George's and the slab.
  8. We hat a lot of shoals where we "grazed" bottom, and we banged quite a few rocks going through the rough spots. Below 11 we would probably have had to get out and float/ drag the yaks In a few places.
  9. Water was the lowest I've floated the creek 11.2-11.4. Most we ran into said the fishing was slow. We were fortunate to find a couple of spots that were producing. Caught 90% of our fish in 4-5 spots. A couple toads
  10. Good luck, I'm guessing you will have a great time. Can't wait for your recap!
  11. Might have to do with this year's water clarity.
  12. I was out yesterday- fished from the islands to point 9. Turned out to be a nice night after the wind layed down. Strange that I didn't see much surface activity, I guess I was in the wrong place at the wrong time, again...?
  13. Nice SM! I've been chasing A 20" on the Buffalo and CC, someday... ?

  15. 18.99lbs won- team Mcclelland and Hubbard. I read that 915 fish weighing 1842 pounds were weighed. We caught a limit but didn't weigh because we knew we had no chance... Plus the crowd at weigh in- wow! We started in PC and caught a couple of keepers (including our biggest fish) using a finesse rigged craw in ~ 6 fow on pea gravel. Also saw some guys haul in a 4-5 lbs in the same area. We then moved around to choose and caught a couple spots on the bluffs. We fished copper mine to point 9 and caught a couple spots and a bunch of dink smallmouth. Finished up by ventris fishing windy banks/points. Kietech caught the most fish with a couple others on spinner bait. Our expectations were low, and we had a great time. It was a great "excuse" to spend the day on the water.
  16. The color of the lights has to do with light refraction / penetration. For the visible spectrum violet, blue and green penetrate further, blue the deepest. If you scuba dive you know that the deeper you go everything starts looking green/blue, but hit it with light and you will see vivid color. White light contains all colors of the spectrum- not just a concentrated wavelength- so it works but it won't look as bright deeper. I made a green and a blue submersible led light this winter that I plan to use, I'll let you know if one seems to outperform the other.
  17. I fished around ventris and never saw any up shallow. Caught a few bass and a nice walleye on a crank bait in 15-20 fow. Also ran down around horseshoe- never had any luck in the shallows.
  18. A buddy of mine signed up and asked me to take him out. We have low expectations, just going out to have some fun. Biggest challenge will be the crowds, and looks like the weather.
  19. It will be interesting to if the increase in popularity of bow fishing has any impact on the carp population. I've seen piles of large carp washed up or dumped on the beaches the last few years. I'm not against the sport, just curious of the impact ( if any)
  20. Glad I'm not the only one that isn't finding them in their normal (shallow) haunts.
  21. Ran up to WE last night, fished for about two hours-down from the mill, around the bend and along the ledges. Only got one smallmouth. Water was clearing, could see about 2 1/2 ft..
  22. Glad it wasn't just me ??
  23. Put in at PC- first time out in a long while. Water was brown 6-12" visibility, 53-55 degrees. Saw a lot of anglers working docks and shoreline. Was wanting to work some points at dusk/ dark but never marked much activity on sonar, didn't even see many bait balls which was unusual. Ran around PC cove and the islands. Original plan was to put in at monte ne and head upstream- sounds like more activity that way.
