My buddy Dan and I left out about 1030 this morning looking for hybrids and walleye….after failing to locate any schools we decided to fish jerkbaits in the hopes of picking up a couple.  We did pick up one hybrid, but the multi species bite was absolutely off the charts today.  No pics of the LM or drum, just the two spots I “removed” and the other miscellaneous fish we kept … all on jerkers.  We finished up about 5.  Decided to dispatch the spots, whites, and green sunfish immediately.  Delicious.  Chunk rock. Bluffs, ends.  3-25 FOW.

Not on Stockton, but on LO a few days ago.   Also had one over 4lbs (definite female) and a pair of 3+lb. egg laden females.

With water temps still below 72°, and the full moon period still ahead of us this month, I don't think spawning has concluded for any species just yet.
Crappie are still full of eggs, and the White bass haven't begun their annual run up the creeks yet, due to no rainfall.

I drove down from KC to handle some family business that Friday evening. Woke up early the next morning to take our kayak out and opted for the bank instead due to the ripping wind and rollers. I can’t believe they let y’all launch in that. Dangerous stuff. Can confirm it was a bad morning to be a flipping jig tho!

I’ve spent quite a few hours fishing out the back of a 621 bird and can attest to everything Bill said. Never put my own to the test like those guys, but they sure feel superior in every aspect.
My first boat will likely get beat to s*** on the rough waters of LOZ despite it being my home pond my entire life, bc it’s more about fishing than keeping up with the Joneses.
I do know who I’m gonna bring my new-fangled outboard to when the time’s wrong tho 🤣

Little different deal today, found a good school of hybrids with the usual bunch of blue cat shadowing them.  Kept three hybrids for the freezer; did not catch a single largemouth which surprised me.

They had to be pulling even though the message line said 5k….they were definitely oriented where I would expect with good flow, but like I said they were pretty high in the column.  Have a 6xd on the deck now, as I think I could have really sacked them up on one yesterday.  Had fun with that big swimbait!

    Nice, dude!   👍
I had a gut feeling that I needed to be out there today. But I also had a gut feeling that I needed to make a run to get into the right kinda water.
It was hot and I wasn't in the mood for a boat ride.
    Shoulda went anyway.

Fish were up in the column this afternoon…did not catch a bunch but they were all solid.  They were feeding on fry at 15-20’ over 35-40 FOW.  Sorry, I don’t have live scope, no fancy screenshots - had to do it the old way.  Caught half on a tailspin and the other half on a Live Target Gizzard Shad.  Lost a LM at the boat on the swim bait that would have pushed 6#.  Git you some.  Here are a couple:

So after reading this thread, and seeing the same guys commenting negatively about tournaments, anglers who enjoy tournaments, the drafted number of dead fish during a tournament, etc. etc., the same we have read here for years, i spent the past 30 minutes looking at every post made by the FB link posted, and must say, they do have a decent system. Yes, i could see a few twists that i would change with their catch/weigh/video/release, but overall a good system.

As a few know, i run a local bass club, and we haul those poor fish around all day, bouncing them off the lids and bottoms, just to let them go in an area they have never been, just to probably die. I mean, our very small club probably kills less fish in a year than an avid fun fisher does due to the care and additive we use to care for the fish, along with the knowledge to do so.

BUT, after watching the link, i may just adapt this type of system starting next season. We have several who fish alone, so doing the videoing may be a hurdle we will have to work around.

The technology is certainly available to eliminate "weigh-ins" and calm any worries about cheating.
Guys are spending thousands on FFS, spotlock systems, ect.  but throw a fit about rigging their boats for any type of immediate release scoring.
Personally I'd be really excited about any system that eliminates my need to house fish, and cull.   Livewells just add weight to a boat and burn up battery charge capacity.  Who wouldn't WANT to avoid those headaches?

Check out this tournament in Sturgeon bay, one of by best friends ended up winning it this year.
Each boat is given a scale, calibrated each day, and an app where the fish is weighed on video and released.
For the fish to count the scale and release have to be on camera, the format worked very, very well in his opinion.
the facebook link has great content/videos of action during the day.

No, that should be done by the anglers, or the tournament organizations, that truly value the resource.

Well, we had another 'bout of it the last couple days in between home improvement projects.   Ol' Dougy Poo is pretty handy to have around 🙂
Hung some screen doors, got into a few mild arguments about "brick molding", and he almost got me divorced twice in 2 days...... but it all ironed itself out.
Did some dip-bait catfishing a couple evenings and caught enough for a mediocre fish fry, then went bass fishing last night.   Me and the old fart put almost 15lbs. in the boat in 3 hours.   It was hella fun!
Thanks for all your help Doug!  👍😁

    Not bad!
After getting my flutter spoon lesson a few weeks ago I spent +60.00 on spoons.....and haven't been able to get a spoon bite going since.
Day before yesterday I got on a good shallow bass bite and had four over 3lbs. and 7 keepers total in 4 hours before I ran out of logs to throw at.   Went out the very next day and do you think I was able to pull it off again in a different creek?   Noway!   But I did locate a school of whites and mutts that saved the day.

Went out again in the sauna this evening until dark, with the fly gear.......Miserable!  2 dinks and one decent White.
2 really good days, back to back, seems impossible to pull off lately. It seems like a pattern is only good for about 12-16 hours.

Not anywhere as good as a couple weeks ago last nite but still caught a few..32 FOW bouncing a white/chart spoon.  Caught a bunch of keeper crappie, which is very unusual for me anyway with this technique, and a few nice blue cats.  Pictures of a couple fish.  Will try again tonite or tomorrow morning…looked like some fish were suspended in the same range and if so I will drag some cranks through them.

Hard to ever pick without adding Wheelers name. Lawyer should do well, as well as Jordan Lee. Edwin posted a video earlier saying he caught tons of fish, but no 2 pounders.

A Grn.pumpkin/black flake 5" Chomper on a 5/16oz. Mitch Fields craw head is a staple of mine.   I order the grubs direct, MINUS the garlic..... because back in the day EVERYONE was throwing garlic scented baits, and I had it in my head that the fish were getting conditioned to it.    😁
    Probably doesn't matter anymore.

It's always been my belief that the biggest fish are the first ones to go shallow in the Spring.   But all bets are off this year.  I've been plagued by short fish every time I've been out so far this spring.
So far this is my best '22 bass, and I had to wade through 15-20 shorts to get it.
