Put in a RB about 730 am.  Water temp was 79.  Fished around bridge pillars and around stobs with minnows and slip bobbers.  Ended up the day with 22 keepers between 2 of us.  Fished in depths of 12 to 30 ft, 10 ft down.   Nothing funnier than watching that bobber sink, must be the kid in me.  Caught a lot of shorts through out the day.  Off water by 3 pm.  The crappie made us work for them, but was a good day on the lake.

I have an aluminum boat that has livewells custom built to keep trout alive with not only a recirculation but a timed intake.  This works well in cold water for the trout and keeps them frisky, but I would not even think about putting a bass in there with these water temps and maybe even worse is the amount of boat traffic creating a washing machine affect especially on the rock on a July weekend.
Run the recirculation and not the intake on a constant mode with a block of ice then a bag with a rejuvenate product of your choice and only weigh 2 fish and I really think they would be alright if they were not deep fish at 30' plus, that needed fizzed.
Have no problems with Derby's and have fished 100's, but not in July  and not with this heat and boat traffic.
And yes the Yaker's have it right.  That's the way to go in the Summer, measure them and get em back in the same place you found them.
You leave a bunch of dead fishing floating around a boat ramp this time of the year and everyone gets a black eye.  And by a bunch 3 or 4 white bellies floating around looks like a dozen, cause it probably is.
    Good Luck

There's actually an app for catch and release tournaments called Fish Donkey. Looks like you register your tournament with them and then fisherman you the app to record their catches by length.

I’d be all for the same setup Kayak tournaments use. The same one I think was used for the ozark anglers tournament. If they had something like that with a low entry fee, that would be great. I’m not out there to make money (almost no one does), but I do like to compete. But I don’t enjoy the moral quandary of dragging fish all over the lake.

Bill: I'm so glad to see you throw your voice into this debate. Your opinion carries a lot of weight on here and around the Table Rock area. We HAVE TO come up with a better way than transporting 5 fish around all day in upper 80"s water temps. I am NOT anti tournament. I've fished a few and it was fun. It did get the competitive juices flowing. But its 2020. Its time to adjust our way of thinking. I know you are a humble man Bill I just wanted to thank you for lending your 2 cents to this issue. We are seeing people like Pat Mahomes voice their opinions on social issues. He talks, people listen!!

Well I was kind of hoping that there might be more hungover people this morning to keep them off the lake for a few hours. Not true!! Bloody Mary’s must of been served early and on the lake they came!!!
We did get a couple of nice hours of fishing but with the moon up all night I’m sure the fish fed well last night and the bite probably wasn’t going to be good till afternoon/evening. I’m pretty sure the way the lake looked at 10:30 I wasn’t staying any longer to find out!!
What bites we had were lackluster at best. If you didn’t hit them right on the head they weren’t going to chase it at all. We had 4 keepers this morning 3 were 2 1/2-3lbs and one about 4 1/2lbs. We graphed several groups of fish but couldn’t get them to react at all. Not much of a report but when this weekend is over it should get back to normal.

A big shout out and thanks to Stan over at the Stockton Lake Army Corps of Engineers. On my way home yesterday from fishing I called the main office and asked if there was any way they could fix the big potholes at the North Mutton Creek ramp and today when I got off the lake they had filled those holes. Now that’s some responsive work and great customer service!!!! 👍👏

Smithvillesteve reacted to Dock-in-it in Kim City - June 30 - mostly swimbait
The fish are still biting the swimbait pretty good (best from daylight to 7:30). I normally use a 2.8 Big Bite SB with a 5/16 and 3/8oz jig head. The Big Bite SB is very impressive in regards to catching and durability. I have a topwater handy (spook) but it does not see much action. There are some good mornings where the fish are chasing on top but there are too many dinks. They are normally chasing one or two shad. A few big fish are mixed in, but few and far between. The swimbait and topwater bite I am referring to is in deep water (25ft to 75ft). I pay very little attention to the bank, most of the time my boat is in 45ft. I like to idle around and look for a combination of gizzard shad, white bass, and K's. It just seems they are normally suspended together over deep water. These fish can be anywhere (gravel points, coves, and creek channels). The gizzard shad will be breaking the surface from daylight to about 7:30. I also keep a spoon handy if I venture into water less than 35ft. I spend about 30 minutes each morning with the spoon and I have caught about 25 short walleye (12"-14") over the past 30 days and only 2 over 18", so the future walleye population may be very good. I just fish the morning hrs and last week I averaged 10 keepers per morning and yesterday I had 14 keepers and another 14 today. I do not use a drop shot, but after 7:30 I think a drop shot would be more productive than the swimbait. Also, a few LM are starting to show up with the K's.

That is great BF Scott!! I got a place on Pomme and hardly ever fish there. I go over to Truman to chase hybrids and crappie and drive over to Stockton to chase smallies and walleyes. Pomme has a reputation as not being a very good bass lake. Or at least a big bass lake. Your post is very encouraging!! I only had about 2-3 hrs to fish about a month ago and had a pretty good time. Caught 6 bass, 3 keepers with one going about 5 lbs. Maybe I should stick closer to home!! Thanks for reporting! Notice i didnt ask what you were using????

Great eye Randy!! And kudos to you for releasing that fish. Walleye is extremely tasty but i just cant bring myself to put a knife through a 28 inch fish!! Makes me even more disappointed we didnt get to go to Canada this year with the border closed. Got a fly in trip in sept. Mostly smallmouth trip but will have a couple of fish fry with walleyes. Hopefully we get to go!

Smithvillesteve reacted to Bill Babler in Baxter to Kings River Part 2
Hit the water this morning with Lance and Nick from Bentonville.  Swell father and son team, and both could handle a rod.  Launched at 5:45 off H hwy. and headed for Campbell Pt. as there had been a quick early topwater deal going on up there.
I had a great topwater bite just out on the White out of Baxter, but it TOTALLY  dried up.  I mean gone.  Don't know how it could have gone so flat so fast but last weekend killed it.  I'm guessing the shad moved but there are still some I can see if I get there at the crack.  Just nothing eating them.
Anyway it started like it has been this last week, i or 2 at a location and then might as well move no matter what   First 3 locations we had a total of 6 fish, then I hit on a drop shot deal in about 18' up near the 39 bridge and we caught 6 more including a super walleye about 4 lbs.  Caught all the fish on a shad shape worm. everyone of them in 18/22 feet, and I will  point out that the water is pretty cloudy the closer you get to the Kings.  It is also totally full of debris and man you have to be careful.  I bumped pretty hard at least 3 or 4 times., enough to fill my speed odometer with wood that I had to drill out when I got home.  At least no wake boats in the home of the Table Rock Lake wake boat.

Caught 3 at the mouth of the Kings, one on a surge shad and the others on the shad shape worm.
Don't know what happened but at 0800 as we were headed back toward Baxter I saw a main lake flat point that when we went up had two boats on it.  The boats were gone and the wind was blowing a chop right in on it.  I wheeled in and at this point I will tell you as I've said in  prior times, its better to be lucky than good.

Simply saying, It was on.   As I pulled in I saw a feed, and Lance chunked a surge shad up there and it was engulfed.  Nick tossed the 2.8 Keitech and he also was hooked up.  This went on for close to an hour and the numbers were silly.  It was the Wolf Pack I had not been able to find.  Largemouth and K's and even some more walleye on the swimbait.  At least a dozen keeps up to 3.55 pounds.  Funny thing only 1 jaw and he was a squirt.  Did see one Big, Big smallmouth feed twice but he was always just out of range.  We had at least 4 doubles. and at one point had a straight Redfin laying in the water behind the boat while I was retying a swimbait and it got blasted just sitting there.
Nick led the way with the 4 lb. walleye the 3.55 LM and another 2.85 LM.  Great day for Dad and Son.
    Good Luck

I've caught a handful of 28" ers up in Canada. A couple of years ago my son caught a 29 3/4 " eye while fishing for lake trout in 50 fow. We measured that beauty 3 times to try and get to 30 inches. Lodge owner gives a "30 inch club" hat to anybody catching one. We couldnt stretch her out that far. So close!! I havent caught very many walleyes at Stockton over 20 inches. Caught a nice 21 incher there a couple of weeks ago. I released her. I cant bring myself to put a knife through a walleye bigger than 20 inches. Just my own personal beliefs. I will keep those good eating 15-16 inchers.

Wife and I caught 5 nice KY bass on either Swim Baits or Ned's Rigs in about 20 feet of water in less than an hour.  We headed back in when the rain started and we just entering the Hideaway Marina docks where we keep our boat when we noticed a huge feeding frenzy taking place not 20 feet from our boat slip.  I put the trolling motor down and we got within range and threw both the swim bait and the Ned's rig and within seconds both hooked in a nice white bass.  I had thought it was either smallmouth or Kentucky Bass feeding on shad but it was White Bass.  The first two fish we caught nailed our baits and have swallowed both baits.  Both fish were in the 2 lb range.  We continued to fish the area for another 30 minutes and caught both KY and SM bass in the same area.  So our total for the 90 minutes we were out was 11 bass, most of which came within 20 feet of our boat slip.  Same days you just need to be in the right spot at the right moment to experience something magic.
We have tried fishing closer to shore in more shallow water but continue to bring back baits with green algae on them.  Most of the fish we are catching are still in the 15 to 20 foot range.  I'm guessing the fish haven't spawned yet.  Does anyone know for sure?  What is the ideal surface temp for spawning?  I wish you all a good fishing week in and around the rain we'll be getting.  At least the last few days the boat traffic hasn't been as insane as it was on Friday May 1st.  I'm hoping as MO returns to normal that some of the idiots will stay off the lake at least until June.

Got no problem with competitive fishing,  I love it, but the method of scoring needs to be revised.  Bass are home range critters, and it isn't very smart to be shuffling them around at the level it is being done now.   It's downright illegal with any other species of wildlife.
It's way past time for bass anglers to step up and do the right thing for the fish they claim to love and care about.   The technology is available to score and release immediately without fear of being cheated.  Man up, wise up, and use it.    You aren't impressing anyone by standing on that platform holding bass up anymore.
