  1. They are in the sunfish family it says. We spend a lot of time and money to catch a sunfish. Kind of humbling.
  2. Got a grandson working on his PhD in physics. I'll check with him on all this stuff. The only problem is I won't be able to understand his explanation.
  3. This may have already been posted. If so, I didn't see it. Had a guy from Wisconsin call about my lsmount. He's a muskie fisherman. Some of the muskie tournaments are banning forward facing sonor in tournaments. Seems they can practice with them but have to be off boat during tournament. Interesting.
  4. In my original post my intent was to compare sports. Most sports actually compete for a few hours, or less during actual competition. I know they spend hours and hours of practice. Pro fishermen are on the water in all types conditions for days. Add that to all the other pressures, to me is it a tough way to make a living. I wouldn't want to pick cotton all day either. Admire anyone who works. Appreciate all the comments. Interesting.
  5. Actually they did. Before bassmasters and 100000 dollar boats they had some called "world series of fresh water fishing" . Harold Ensley won it and maybe Glen Andrew's. They counted everything on a point system I think. I was in a tournament one time where a fish, what ever, counted. Whoever caught most number won. Me and my partner went for perch and smoked it. It was on a private pond. We had to row the boat. Tough job.
  6. It seems that some think being a pro fisherman is a piece of cake. I'm kind of rethinking my post. I think I'll put being a guide as worst. They have to be tough as nails. At times you have put up with bratty people and their bratty kids. Got to find fish and catch them in all conditions. Bait the hook. Untangle the line. Clean out back lashes. Dodge flying Hooks. Stepped on rods. Rods and reels going over the side. Keep a whole tackle store in your boat and a smile on your face. Now that has to be a fun job! I know guys that love it. I admire them for it.
  7. I kept up with the Elite tournament especially the last 3 held up north. Main reason was Scott Martin called me few weeks ago and wanted to try out my LSmount. How could I refuse? He used it at least 2 of the three tournaments and gave me a good heads up on his St.Clair video. Has three transducers. Perspective and forward on trolling motor and wanted my unit so he could stay on target with third transducer. I haven't called him yet for a good or bad report. He seems like the real deal and has a great following. I enjoyed visiting with him. BUT !!!!! Is there any sport tougher than tournament fishing. Mostly 2 days practice then 2 to 4 days.....standing in all sorts of weather. Fighting 2-3 foot waves or more at times. Casting all day as fast as you can generally. Traveling all over the country. Being away from home for days at a time. Having to make yourself available to promote sponsors all the time. What other sport is so demanding? I admire them but don't envy them.
  8. I bought a boat with these units on it. One was by driver side with transducer on transom. Other up front with transducer on tm. Seem to be good. Put them on Facebook. Don't really know what the value is. Priced them $800 for both or $450 for one. Like to sell to someone who would come and check them out. Opened to reasonable offer. Shop is about 15 miles south of Arkansas/Missouri state line just off 65. 870-365-9463.
  9. Good looking boat. You going to test it Friday? They seem to run better in cool water.
  10. I think it is a great picture. It has our lsmount on it to control the livescope or whatever brand is being used. Foot-controlled and hands free. Sure looks good on this boat.
  11. In the diagram you sent I need the one in the box on left. I have been told only 75 or 80 hp 4 cyl. that year will work. I'll send you a picture tomorrow if I can. I beginning to think they only made them for 2 motors and I have both.
  12. Your right about the part number except if you search for it does not bring up my cowl cover. Shows one with the "wings" on it. Evidently they made two models. If you get a chance please send a picture of yours. I was told by marineengine.com that they no longer make it. Imagine that. Thanks again for any help.
  13. No big rush. On the pictured ones it is "spread" out in middle and I tried one like that. Wouldn't work. It has to have the straight sides I think like in picture. I've looked a bunch. If you think your 50 will work I would try to be generous. I'll put a tape to the mariner and send to you. Appreciate your interest.
  14. The mercury is 6467964. The mariner is 6560358. I can use the mariner...just have paint it. Appreciate any help.
  15. This cover is off a 1984 75 hp mariner. I have a mercury 1984 just like it that I have lost this front cover off of. I need a cover just like this. Most I see have "wings" won't fit. I need a mercury or a mariner. I can paint it. Thanks for any help.

    Popups

There still some ads, just not as many and in my opinion more appropriate to this forum. The net thrives on ads but this forum is much better for what ever reason than it was a while back. Just my 2 cents.

    Popups

Don't know who stopped all the popups and constant advertising but thanks. Some of them were pretty gross. Much better site.
  18. Up hill both ways with no shoes.
  19. Who wants to live to their 90's and be a burden? Ask a 90 year old!
  20. I have a friend that's interested in at least one. He would like to visit with you. Anyway you can send me a phone number so he can call you. Mine is 870-365-9463. Thanks...
  21. Is anyone as confused about what day it is as I am. Due to covid quarantined during Christmas then New Year's for same. Suppose to do a breakfast Saturday morning and finally get with family ..I think. Maybe it's the next week. I'm not sure. Is this 2022? I think I'm missing something. My mind I guess. I'm sure no one else seems out of whack as I do.
  22. Dutch check ours out. www.lsmounts.com. I don't like to take advantage of this forum to advertise too much here but since no one replied take a look. Thanks
  23. Probably tastes like chicken. Doesn't everything?

    Boat trim

Seems like I see more big nice bass boats going down the lake not trimmed up. Nose is down and they are plowing the water. I always trim a boat to where as much as possible is out of the water at what ever speed. Trim up till it starts to bounce then trim drown a little for a smooth ride. Seems these guys are getting a boat and no one teaches them how to use it. Am I wrong? Is there a better way?
