  1. Awesome, I might have to start a new hobby. Bill
  2. What about width. Do they run wide?
  3. My wife retired last Wednesday so I get a lot more time with my best friend too. We are blessed. Bill
  4. I don't know about the real thing but I plan on trying a sucker spawn egg fly this year. I just bought the McFly foam for it. Bill
  5. What gear showed up under your tree this year. I received a couple of Lefty Kreh's books on fly casting. Bill
  6. During a trip to another of our precious little trout creeks, the water was drinking water clear. One thing I learned was that not all of the fish in that creek was small. Bill
  7. Merry Christmas Matt, Yes the Creek has changed a lot because of the flooding but it is still a special place. I haven't fished it much after it warmed up and the dry weather has kept the levels low. Glad you caught a few. Have a Merry Christmas to you and yours and a happy new year. Bill
  8. Merry Christmas to all the members of this forum. I have gotten some good advice and tips and not to mention some laughs reading and being a part of this group. Have a happy and safe New Year. Bill
  9. I feel it's an ebb and flow situation I think your right, the fishing is on the upswing in Missouri and on several rivers. Like all good things though, they usaully come to an end or maybe a moderation. Look at some of the great fisheries like Dale Hollow or Okachobie and Lake Fork. Enjoy it while you can and pray it doesn't get to much attention. Bill
  10. I got to hand it to HogWally and friends. You have the Smallmouth on the Meramac figured out and have shown that it is the premier Smallmouth waters in the state. Congratulations on some fine fish. Bill
  11. I made a trip to Montauk on Monday, I hadn't been out for a few weeks because my wife and I have been passing a cold back and forth. It was nice to get out again. It started out well with fish being caught on a Zebra Midge, nothing big, a fourteen-inch average. It never warmed up the way I believed the weatherman said it would and there was a good breeze blowing so back to the car and layered up. I must have lost the Mojo somewhere so the bite had died off by the time I got back to the water. I moved around some looking for active fish. Finally found some after lunch and caught a few more on a

  13. I am glad your better-half came through the ordeal of cancer. I am also glad you have the right outlook on keeping her informed as I do my wife on your whereabouts. You're a lucky man, and she is a lucky woman. I, on the other hand, do not have to shave my head to be that good looking.
  14. Ha!! Well to each his own. I read somewhere that couple starts to look alike after they have been married for a long time. I will pray for Mrs. BilletHead. I like your picture at the end of your reply. Clean cut. There you are again. Bill
  15. My wife always asks where I will be fishing and I try to tell her but she knows that I may change my plans depending on conditions. I call her If I can and let her know of any changes. Always call when I am on the way home as well. I don't want her to worry. Bald women really aren't that sexy. Bill
  16. With the wind we have been having lately the leaves will be down in no time. YAY! Bill
  17. Thanks for the replies. This gives me a start. Bill
  18. Was it a wood frame with a measure net replacing the original mesh?
  19. I am trying to fish the blue ribbon streams this year and of course, Crane is on the list. Maybe the top of that list. I live in Marthasville, north of Washington Missouri so I can't fish Crane often so this will be an overnighter probably with a friend who decided fishing for McCloud rainbows would be a cool quest. Is there a clean inexpensive motel close enough for a one or two day trip to Crane Creek? I appreciate any help received. Bill
  20. I took a friend blue ribbon trout streams on his first trip to a couple of our Blue Ribbon trout streams and it was very rewarding. We both caught trout with my friend really catching the numbers on a particular soft hackle. I stole one so I could tie up a few for the next time. The wind really made casting hard and unpredictable. Bill

    One spot

Good story Al. I spent the day casting in wind (nothing like what you had to deal with) and yes, it is a pain. Bill
  22. I have been told that that section fishes poorly until late winter, that may be true. I fished it for the first time last winter and caught fish but nothing since. Bill
  23. Did you check the water temperature? After the flood in the spring, I haven't seen or heard much about the Browns they stocked earlier this year. Bill
  24. I was under the impression that the lodge would be closed until the C&R season opened and then would be open Friday thru Monday. Did I misunderstand this? Bill
  25. I have only caught one Brown so far this year. Caught it on a hopper at Baptist Camp. I have a couple nicer rainbows but no hogs. it has been a lot of fun fishing with a four weight. I haven't fished hardly anything but terrestrials this summer, a few caddis and Trico spinners but I caught more chubs than trout on the Tricos. I'm going to start throwing some streamers soon. Bill
