Foam and rubber legs are fine, just about any modern combination of materials are OK. No silly worms or silicon grub like baits.

I was sitting At the kitchen table enjoying my supper when I kept noticing splashes on the surface.  I sat and watched Shad getting herded on my gravel bar for at least 15 minutes before I finally decided I should check out the situation.  It was a roaming wolf pack of big smallies on their way somewhere.  Pretty freakin cool.  I only caught 3 big ones but I had limited time and was without a chase boat.

Blue Springs can be a tough creek to fish. Work your way upstream and be a stealthy as you can. size 16 caddis and size 18 hares Ears and Pheasantail nymph droppers work well.

They stock less trout in Maryland throughout the entire state than those stocked in the trout parks on an annual basis  oh and they are smaller .
Before COVID I had several trips planned to fish.... I mean visit the kids/grandkid in MO and KS.

Ya got me John. Some friends hit Cardiac Hill before all of the rain and did well on Browns. I was just wondering if the hatcheries have been stocking the White Ribbon streams and Taney that they normally do? I am guessing no since your not hearing much from the regulars. They better stock the streams up, the crowd will like the opener on the 16th

If the hatcheries are filled with fish, then why aren't there going to be any stockings. Seems strange to me.

I read that the park would reopen on May 4th. Only 250 people would be allowed in at a time, overflow would have to wait in line for someone to leave. There would be no entry fee and no tags required but no fish would be stocked. (Word is, the hatcheries are busting at the seems?).

No gauge on the Courtois.  The gauge on the Huzzah is usually pretty close, since the two streams are side by side and about the same size.  Whatever the Huzzah is flowing at the gauge is what Courtois is flowing on the lower section, more or less.  The Courtois is usually floatable from about Highway 8 down, and depending upon how much water you want to cover, you could go from there to Bass River Resort, or from there to Scotia Bridge where the two streams come together.  It's about 9 miles from Hwy. 8 to Bass, a bit under 15 miles from Hwy. 8 to Scotia Bridge.  Pretty much, if the Huzzah gauge is over 100 cfs you shouldn't have many problems floating in loaded boats, and if it's much over 300 cfs you're gonna be really honking down the creek, just about too fast to fish and tricky to float.  It should be easily floatable this time of year barring heavy rain, and if we do get a heavy rain and a big rise, these streams go down fast are are usually floatable in 3 or 4 days at most.

I will be opening the cottages when I see medical professionals saying it is time.  Hoping mid May or first of June.  There will probably be policy and procedure changes based on CDC advisories.  I will rely on medical advise though, not politicians.

I am not currently renting my cottages out due to the virus.  Please consider when you visit, you may be bringing the virus unknowingly.  We have our 1st confirmed case.  People have been packing in places like McCormack Lake, creating their own little village of people on weekends and popping into the grocery store.  Please consider giving the area more time until the doctors (not politicians) give the all clear.  If you live down the road and can get here without stops for gas or services, then enjoy.  That has been my rule of thumb, get outside everyday, but I have been keeping myself in my home county for now.  No long drives.

I made a run at fishing today and failed miserably. I hit Spring Creek, it was up but clear. no hits. Drove over to Lane Spring only to find it closed. I stopped at Blue Spring Creek, it was up and since I haven't been down since last year I wasn't prepared for some of the changes. I did manage to hook a few trout but lost both of them. It was still a nice day out.

When you say "Lane Spring Closed" do you mean the gate was locked or locked and a sign stating do not enter?

I managed to sneak away for a few hours yesterday and hit the area around the middle Wire Road access. 9 in total, although they were all small (including one almost microscopic trout) and most were caught between 6-7pm. I did see what I believe were larger fish in some of the deeper pools but didn’t have any luck getting them to bite. As usual, the fish I did catch were at the back of the bends, under the tree roots and driftwood. I can home 8 flies lighter because of that. But it was fun. Size 16 brassies with red wire and zug bugs worked well. I’m enjoying getting to know this fun little creek.

Think of your Spring creek trip as a recon for the next time you head out that way. Always good to appreciate a nice day on some fine creeks.

I fished there on Sunday.  Definitely still open, it was packed.  People everywhere, and I fished from 6:30-11.  Bummer bc I don't ever do well there (bass) because I think it's overfished to begin with.  Definitely stayed true to form on Sunday.

Hit the lower river his morning.  It was brisk and overcast.  Hadn't been down there since last year.  Water was stained as usual.  Few bank fisherman and a couple boats went by.  I covered around 7-8 miles hitting all the creeks looking for whites and hybrids.  No hybrids and only saw one struggling shad.  Caught a bunch of small whites and spots.  Plus a meany I think.  Ramp was a muddy mess.     Oh yeah found a canoe if anyone is missing it.

It was open today. I fished a while but no bites. I did see cars on other lakes as we drove thru on Hwy D.
