  1. I've been fishing a lot of the smaller MDC lakes lately about 2-3 hours from St. Louis. Did pretty well at Cypress Lake (Otter Slough C.A) - caught a nice 4 and my pb a 5.86# Also fished Deer Ridge west of Hannibal - good quantity, but all about 10-14" Did pretty well at Henry Sever Lake up between Hannibal & Kirksville also - quite a bit of 2-2.5lbs.
  2. I am looking at getting a chip for my Hummingbird, but wondering other peoples thoughts. I fish both with my kayak & my bass boat and like to hit some of the electric motor only conservation dept. lakes. Looking at Lakemaster the chips don't seem to have those lakes (Hazel Creek, Trail of Tears, Henry Sever) or the local rivers (Meramec, Big, Bourbouse, etc.). Anyone using them? Thoughts? Thanks.
  3. Nice fish guys. I bought a new pedal kayak so I could fish more of the Meramec. I'm in St. Louis so I put in at Pacific Palisades - the current was running pretty fast there today, but I was thinking about hitting some areas further up like near the Chouteau Claim, River Round or Bruns Bridge - has anyone been fishing it lately - how is the current moving?
  4. Just bought a new fishing kayak and was looking to put a fish finder on it. Was wondering what the thoughts of the side imaging were for a kayak? I tend to fish the Meramec and Big Rivers more than anything. Any help appreciated.
  5. Anyone fish Simpson lately? I was thinking about putting the boat in this weekend and giving it a shot.
  6. Anyone use the ramp out at Catawissa? How deep is right there - at least 4-6'? Can I use my Bass Tracker with a prop over there? And is the river down enough now that it is safe to fish the Meramec yet? Still learning the river. I have been putting in at Pacific & Eureka but I'm afraid the current will be pretty strong with the river level. Thanks.
  7. Thanks guys. All the help is appreciated. I'm going down this weekend, hopefully I'll be posting some nice pics.
  8. Thanks wrench. Much appreciated.
  9. Just looking for a little advice - I've had my boat at Table Rock for the last 20+ years and haven't fished the Ozarks in probably 25 years. My in-laws just bought a condo at the Knolls (between Turkey Bend & Osage Beach). Just hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Back of the coves around there any good? Points better? Do I need to travel for best success? Not asking for your hotspots, just some general info. I will be coming down this coming weekend (April 7th). Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks.
  10. I'm still learning fishing the Meramec (been strictly fishing Table Rock the last 20 years), but put in at Pacific Palisades - found a couple little holes a few hundred yards up from the ramp and had no reason to move - no smallmouths though. A few 14-18" largemouth, drum and about 8-9 crappie averaged about 9-10". The part of the Meramec at Pacific - is that considered Lower Meramec?
  11. Thanks for the report - nice fish!
  12. I am new to fishing the Meramec and other rivers in the area. I see you are in a boat (not a canoe/kayak). I am fishing out of a 17' aluminum bass tracker with an outboard. I was wondering, where the "Middle Meramec" is considered - it looks like it may be deep enough for me? I know some of the streams and rivers will just be too shallow. I have fished over near Route 66 in Eureka and have no problem with the 5-8' water, but am limited with the shallow rapids at the 44 bridge and Big River mouth. Thanks for the help and nice job on the catch and release.
  13. It's been 20+ years since I fished Springfield lake and there was a horsepower limit on the lake. I've been trying to research the regs. for the lake but I cannot find much detail. I brought the boat back from Table Rock and was wondering if I could put in on Springfield Lake? Horsepower limit? Trolling motor only? Any help is appreciated. Thanks
