  1. Nice fish. I don't mind fishing in the snow. Hopefully there won't be any this coming weekend when I'll be there.
  2. I ain't from around there but if you guys would have me I'd try to make it.
  3. South Fork of the New River in Todd, NC two weeks ago. Could have used some advice then.
  4. Possibly the greatest songwriter ever. Seen him many times.
  5. That's too bad. I've scored some great deals in the bargain cave over the years
  6. Thank the Good Lord I've found one that loves fishing as much, maybe more than I do. I know I can always have one of whatever and all I have to do is get her one too
  7. I worked on a highway job between Helen and Cleveland. Stayed at a Ramada Inn in Helen. This was probably about 10 years ago and there was a store in Cleveland where you could get an RC and a Moon Pie for a dollar. Upper Hooch is good fishing. Need to go check it out again. Thanks BilletHead. I will. Really looking forward to it.
  8. Thanks BilletHead. I will. Really looking forward to it.
  9. When you say upper are you talking above the lake or just below the dam? I've fished both but it's been a long time. I used to fish Island Ford all the time. Went out there a couple of weeks ago and didn't get a bite. I've heard the stripers are eating everything in the lower end.
  10. I think the GP land is open to the public. Fishing here is so hit and miss. Even during delayed harvest. I suspect poaching has a lot to do with it. Some folks just don't care. I'm just as happy making trips to The Ozarks, North Carolina and Tennessee.
  11. Thanks Phil. I will look him up.And I'll be sure to stop by your place. I think I've already been talking with one of your competitors though. Sorry about that. I've never hired a guide before in my life. Not to toot my own horn but I've usually been successful anywhere I've fished. Actually My dad Is a licensed Coast Guard Captain and charter fished shortly after he retired. I just grew up learning fishing. That's all I did. Just really want to do a float trip because our time is going to be limited and for photography purposes. Will definitely stop by your place though. Thanks to all for making me feel welcome here.
  12. I lived in Denver for a couple of years and through work I got to see all 4 corners of the state. Also some of Wyoming and Utah. I would go back out there in a heartbeat. I didn't get to do as much fishing as I would have liked but what I did get to do was amazing. I plan to get back one day and am gonna buy some property there.
  13. Would love to see pics of your build. I want a drift boat but my gosh they are expensive. I could probably build on for 1/10th of the cost.
  14. Gonna be in Branson next weekend. Actually thinking of doing a float trip. Hoping for a big brown myself and getting my GF her firs trout on the fly.
  15. Thank You tho1mas. I see you live in Nixa. My GF's mother lives there. Very close to the James. Maybe we can hook up and hit it sometime.
  16. This is my girlfriend's 10 year old daughter. It was her first trout ever. Yeah I know not the proper way to handle trout but she got him off the hook herself and I was in the water running so I could get the photo. He lost a little slime but upon release seemed to be just fine. We took a trip to Florida this summer where she caught her first fish ever in the pond behind the condo. She caught more fish out of that pond than we caught in the bay in a whole week. From that point on she has become THE authority on fishing and is qualified to give lessons.
  17. Good Morning, My name is Lee. And I live in Dallas, Ga. I grew up down on the coast saltwater fishing all of my life. My grandparents had a couple of lakes in their neighborhood and I pretty much taught myself how to bass fish starting around 4 or 5 years old with a Zebco 202 and plastic worms. I moved to the Metro-Atlanta area in 1996 and was totally lost in the fishing department. I decided to take up fly fishing for trout. So I got a 30 dollar Sports Authority special and some plastic waders and it's been all downhill from there. Fell in love with The Ozarks this summer. My girlfriend lives in Little Rock and let me tell you that girl knows how to fish. We fish the Buffalo for Smallies and have since fished the White in Cotter and The Little Red below Greer's Ferry. I got her hooked on trout fishing in Cotter and got her all set up for fly fishing at Christmas. She actually has a nicer rig than I do. Heading to Branson next weekend and gonna try our luck on Taneycomo. Anyhow I hope you guys all have a great wekend. The weather out here in Georgia is terrible as it usually is during winter. So I'll probably spend lots of time in bed researching and reading about the great fishing in The Ozarks.
