Hey guys. I have an older trout boat that hasn't given me any trouble so far. I did notice the floor feels a spongy in places. The last time I hit the river, I noticed some "flex" in the floor and it felt spongy. There aren't any cracks in the floor on cracks on the bottom side either. Should I be concerned? I know the floor is supposed to flex some, but I don't know if I should look into having the floor repaired or not. The area in question is approximately a 1.5 foot circle. Thanks for chiming in! The mechanic said that when the engine burns the fuel with Yammy lube, the byproduct is exhaust w/oil. He said that the motor isn't efficient enough to burn all the fuel basically. What's left over is an oil residue that results from the oil in the fuel being burned and the motor passes the exhaust & oil out of the prop hub. Since I have a jet, the engine uses exhaust ports, etc, but it can't burn all the oil, so some passes through the lower unit from below the power head. It's not leaking fuel, because it doesn't smell like fuel and fuel would evaporate and this stuff has been there for over 24 hours. I know it's not leaking oil, because it's not that deep Yammy blue. I'm going to roll with it and keep an eye on my oil level to make sure. I really appreciate you guys chiming in. Hopefully you'll both get out there this weekend! Thank you

Well, I just got off the phone with a marine mechanic and he told me it was just un-burned exhaust oil. As long as the color isn't Yammy blue, and it's a brownish color, not to worry. Have you guys run into this?

I just hooked up the motor to the garden hose, took the cowling off and ran it for a few minutes. I revved it up, etc. to put a little pressure on the system. I didn't see any leaks. So, I wonder if it's a seal between the engine and the lower unit...... Any ideas as to what it could be?????????? That's great. Thank you!

Hey guys, the boat I just bought has a 1999 50 EJRX Yammy on it. The motor was in a crate from 1999 until 2016 when the previous owner bought it from an individual. A guy who works at a marine dealer bought it for his dad and his dad never used it. So, he purchased it from the employee and actually saw them unbox the motor. Crazy stuff. Anyway, the motor was used once and then stored, inside, for 2 1/2 years WITH fuel in the motor. It was non-ethanol fuel with Stabil in it. Where the lower unit meets the top of the motor, there's clearly a substance leaking out of the motor. I have had the gas line plugged in for a few days, as I have run it for several days in a row, playing around. When I ran the motor, I would run it for about 15 minutes at a time, full out, and then stop for about 15 - 20 minutes. I think the gas may have eaten a seal and I don't want to run it again and risk burning up my motor. Do you have any idea of what the leak could be coming from? Please help!!!

Hey guys, I need to buy an anchor and there are lots of choices out there. I don't want one that's too heavy, for fear that I might dip the front end of my boat and go down..... I have a 20' X 42" AFF boat with a 50/35 Yammy jet on it. What style of anchor do you use? What weight? What boat are you using? Thanks!!!

Hey guys, I got really lucky and bought a boat from my friend's dad a couple of days ago. He put a '99 Yammy 50/35 jet on it, ran it a handful of times, and then stored it for years due to health problems. It was a little tricky to get it running, but it runs great now. I have two issues to fix with the motor: 1. It dies a idle unless you give it a little throttle 2. The tilt/trim does nothing. No clicking, no sound, nothing. But the key start works perfectly. With the tilt/trim, do you think it's as simple as replacing the relay? Please chime in with suggestions! Thank you

Hey guys, I ran across a 2008 Topwater for sale and don't know much about the boats. I spoke with a boat dealer and he told me he wouldn't use or sell them. I'm taking what he said with a grain of salt, but here's what he told me. He said that they don't use any support between the glass on their construction. No wood or anything, so the hull will only last a year, for guide use. He also said he saw a guy put his foot through the deck of a 2016 model after he jumped a foot and a half from the boat ramp onto the boat deck. What's your experience with these boats? Did they use a support material on their boats in 2008? I know this sounds far fetched, but I need to make sure I'm not buying a boat that will need it's hull re-glassed every few years. I appreciate any and all input. Thank you!

Thank you so much for chiming in! You're right about the boats holding their value. I was blown away when I started looking around and saw prices on 15 - 20 year old boats in the $7,000 range. I thought they should be in the $3,500 range. I'm just trying to make a good, financial decision. Thanks again!

Hey guys, I'm having trouble deciding if this boat is worth what the guy is asking for it. Here are the details: 1999 Supreme 20x48 1999 Mariner 45 jet - stick steer The boat comes with the factory trailer, 2 fixed seats and 2 spider chairs. Everything has been garage kept and looks great. The boat looks fantastic and he wants me to drive the boat and make sure I'm good with it before I purchase. He tells me it runs like a top so, I'm not too worried about the motor. He wants $7000 and I don't know if that's too high for a '99 rig. Seems a little high. What do y'all think? Thanks in advance for any input!

Hey guys, I have an older model Shawnee and can't stand the floor support ribs. They are a real pain when trying to use a spider chair/chairs. Does anyone have an idea of how to level out the floor surface without adding a lot of weight? Thanks for any suggestions!

Hey guys, I have an older 1997 Shawnee and the bottom needs some serious attention! The boat has HIGH sides and is the typical 20' model. The issue is that it's too heavy to flip over. We tried, after removing the motor and all contents, with four grown men and couldn't make it happen. What are your suggestions to mend the bottom while it's still on the trailer?
