  1. I usually fish the upper Pomme near Bolivar as it is fairly close to where I live. Lots of small fish. Biggest one I’ve caught out of there is 16”.
  2. My goal is to catch a new personal best smallmouth which would basically be a 19”+ fish. I would also like to get on some more waters this year. Last year I fished mostly the Sac and Pomme Rivers but also did a float on the Gasconade. I would like to either float a different part of the Gasconade or float the Current.
  3. My goals aren’t as lofty as some of these goals some of you have. I just want to catch a 19”+ smallmouth (would be pb), and improve my walleye fishing skills on Sac River. I catch walleyes by accident and would like to catch more of them by actually targeting them.
  4. Great day of fishing. Topwater? I’ve been doing well with a popper and a Zara puppy over this way on the Sac. Not to mention the Ned with a hellgrammite
  5. I could meet you tomorrow wherever you’d like I get off work at 3:30 our shop is near Kearney and Glenstone but if you live in Ozark and would like me to come there, I will definitely do it. You name the place and I will be there.
  6. If you still have these, I would like them I work in Springfield. I could meet you either there or in Ozark.
  7. I’ve been a member for I think 2 years and hardly ever post but this thread got me thinking about missing out on meeting people because I’ve been a lurker who comes to the site at least once a day and haven’t met anyone on here. I’m going to try and change that.
  8. Great read. And I agree. I’ve only salt water fished a couple of times and while I enjoyed it, I much prefer freshwater fishing. My former pb smallmouth came on a soft plastic I poured and while I am a novice at lure making, when I do catch a fish on something I created, there is indeed great satisfaction.
  9. I use a 6’9 lews medium speedstick with a abu revo sx. I agree that it’s definitely more about the rod than the reel. It’ll cast an 1/8 oz tx rig quite a ways without much effort. Picked up that rod for $50 at Walmart.
  10. Welcome. I’m a transplant myself having moved to Springfield in November. You will learn a lot on this site. I know I have in short time I’ve been here.
  11. So being new to Missouri (Springfield), having moved here at the beginning of November, I figured the best way to catch fish in winter is to down size and finesse fish and that has worked. Ned, senko, small Texas rig worm/craw is my go to this time of year especially when shore fishing or wading. What are some of your go to lures and techniques this time of year?
  12. Bass have been biting pretty good on a Ned at Lake Springfield. I’ve been using a the craw ( forgot the name) and a TRD and have caught them pretty decently. Been there 3 times all from the bank ( got rid of Jon boat before I moved, want a better one or kayak) and caught 5, then 10, then 5 again in stints under 2 1/2 hrs. Colors I used were Canada Craw and The deal. A few fish came on Tx rig zoom finesse worm in watermelon red but the Ned has worked better. None of the fish had much size but I had to get at least one pic.
  13. I’d have to say a trip to the boundary waters for a week. Or any trip to some trophy smallmouth waters.
  14. Hi I just moved to Springfield from Texas. I love bass and crappie fishing but really like to catch anything that swims. Looking to meet people on here to go fishing with and learn the lakes around here. I sold my boat before moving so I will be relegated to the bank for awhile. Anyways, just wanted to introduce myself.
