  1. No. It is just hard to grow a second head.
  2. Yesterday, the day after the second shot, was not my favorite. Went to bed early. Feel fine today.
  3. I had the second Pfizer dose yesterday. The arm is much more sore than the first time, although that could just be a matter of how close to what nerves. Physically, I feel hungover, complete with a semi queasy stomach and shaky hands. They say tomorrow I will feel fine. Of course, none of you would know the feeling I am describing. No second head yet.

    What's Cooking?

Picture does not do it justice. Homemade beef vegetable barley soup made from rib roast bones. The beautiful wife made bread to go with it.
  5. Several comments have ressurected old wisdoms I learned from others more knowledgeable. Range in front of the hunter caused different breeds to develop. Tall brush and hunting style caused breeders to choose for different traits. Roughly in order, from close hunting to ranging, this was the norm. Brittany, English Springer, Gordan setter, English setter, Irish setter, GSP, English pointer. Cockers were in there somewhere, but they haven't been in the wild since Napoleon. Vizlas and Weimaraners were more large game but did cross over.
  6. I was raised by a mother who bred and showed Setters and Springer Spaniels. Many of them were dual registered both with AKC and as gun dogs. She bred more than one dual champion. I grew up as her kennel boy. Based on that, I want to suggest several things. Feel free to ignore me. 1. Buy from a long time breeder who breeds within the framework of either AKC or the gun dog group. Make sure they enjoy a good reputation among their peers. 2. Ask for a guarantee against congenital defects, including hip dysplasia. 3. Buy as a puppy or fully trained. If as a puppy go to see the l
  7. Oklahoma, for most people, is a s***storm. My sister and her husband, both 68, had to drive 3 hours for an available time slot. The wife and I, because we live here in a retirement community that includes skilled nursing, will receive our second shot this Sunday. So far no signs of a second head.

    What's Cooking?

When I had a Weber, I wrapped hickory nuts I picked up in the fall in foil pouches. I poked a few holes in the top side of the pouch and laid it on the coals. It was not handy for long smokes, but it worked well for ribs and pork tenderloins.

    What's Cooking?

Yes, but there is something about the flavor. Besides the little egg is also a superb smoker.

    What's Cooking?

Cooking something new to me for dinner tonight. I bought a portion of teres major at the butcher shop. $8.99/lb. Supposed to be the second most tender cut on the cow. I have rubbed it and have it wrapped in cling film. In a bit I will drop it in the sous vide at 130. This evening I will quick sear it and serve it in medallion form with sriracha horseradish cream.

I have the next to smallest Blackstone. I love it. It does a variety of things well. Your can, of course, sear meats. Seared, marinated shrimp are incredibly easy. Squashes, eggplant, and onion slices are things of beauty. I suspect I should try stir fry, but then I would have to learn to flip food to the top of my head. My favorite? Hash browns. This last summer those living on our street held monthly, socially distanced block parties. I rolled the Blackstone to the cul-de-sac, where we set up and did the grilling. Several of the men had serious grill envy. If you buy one, take
