It's just a bunch of us getting together to trout fish, a lot of folks use Zig Jigs so that's how we came up with the name.

That'd be great if you can make it, and you're welcome to stay around for the fish fry Saturday night, or come over any of the nights we are there.

  3. Did you need me to bring down my weber smoker/grill. I mentioned I'd be willing to bring it and smoke some pork but if its not needed I'll just bring the large meat platter like last year.

let me know. I am just getting stuff aligned for heading down the 6th.

Up to you on how many to bring - we've got 2 lodges this year, so should have 2 fridges.  Did the platter you brought last year go pretty fast?

I don't think you need to bring the Webber unless you want to, I think Gotmuddy is providing plenty of smoked meat.

  5. Jeff,

I see from your posts that you are not using skirted jigs much but am curious if you might have some constructive criticisms about the jigs I sent you last year?

It seems to me that GP with some Purple Candy strands have worked best for us with GP Purple flake craw trailer. With PBJ a close second.

Our place is at the junction of the Kings and White and it gets real busy here as the kids camp opens up at Point 22.  My wife and I are interested in exploring the fishing a little further up the White and would welcome any suggestions for spots upstream of Point 23. The only other place we are familiar with up there is Viney Creek.

I am still making all types jigs and many plastic baits and would be happy to make you anything I am able to. Still just doing it as veteran charity fundraiser.

Thanks for your regular and encouraging reports.

Mike - They were really schooling on the point at Viney this morning.  You have to get there early, like around 0545.  After the top water bite slowed down, they hit a 3.3 Keitech.  Sure, I would be happy to try out some of your 3.5" baits.

I donate money every year to Disabled American Veterans.  They have a van locally that picks up vets and takes them to the VA.  Seems like a good charity that serves veterans.

Mike - I haven't fished the skirted jigs much, I still have the ones you sent me, I just need to give them a shot.

Fishing upstream from point 23, soon they should be on the gravel points, there are several across the lake, just about across from the 23 sign that should start holding fish.

There's been a real good topwater bite early at the mouth of the little cove that is across the lake from Carter Hollow, there might be a good evening bite there also, I always fish early mornings so I don't have much experience with what happens in the evenings.

Just about all the coves hold fish and so do the points leading into them.  It's always been iffy for me in those coves, somedays they fish well, some days they don't.

I stopped by the point at Viney yesterday, didn't seem to be many fish on it, but they should be there soon.  Should be a good top water bite there soon also.

  7.  It's the cove at Point 23,(?) the entire east side of the cove, back behind the docks .

OK, I know where you mean, I haven't tried back in there for a while.  Man, I hope it isn't zebras I like to fish c-rigs and such and those things make it almost impossible to fish that stuff.  Did you see any of them?

  8. Great to see ya at the Jig Fest.  Hope you all caught a bunch.  Here is the phone for JWM Trailer Repair at Reed Springs Mo.  Ask for Bill and tell him I sent you.  They know Vault in and out. 417-272-1900

See you on the Lake.  Bill

Great to see you there also, hope you get those knees fixed up!
