  1. Pstone Don't waste your time on Tr and go to K-Dock. You know where to go. Done pretty good the last couple of weeks there. Using minnows anywhere from 12 to 20 ft. They were scattered all over the place as of last week. Water temp was around 56-57. Probably has gone down ever since. should be even better now.
  2. Ok gents, here’s my thoughts on the Herons. 1.What is the difference between feathers or fiberglass? If you drive by Moonshine early in the morn, you’ll see about 10 to 20 fiberglass Herons out on the water. 2.Herons are not hurting the fishery as Bill thinks, we are. Think about it guys, how many people are caught with over limits or just fishing illegally? Foul hooks, ect… Herons don’t stock their freezers with fish then later throw them away because they go bad, we do. They eat what they need not what they want. 3. Herons were here long before we were. 4.I’m not PRO Heron but I think we need to stop blaming wildlife and start blaming ourselves if we think it hurts our fisheries. 5.I’ve seen more Eagles take fish than Herons. Shall we start blaming them also? Of course not, we would not think of doing such a thing.
  3. Fozzy You get what you pay for. Most of the “condos” around this area are no more than upgraded apartments. “Condo” is just the fancy word for apartments around here. The Landing prices will be sinking soon HA HA. I have heard that the Belk store and several others are already settling to the point of major construction problems. I do not know this for fact, but it’s hard to believe there aren’t some problems when there is about seventeen feet of fill under them. I know that some settling is normal, but if it is true what I have heard, normal settling does not cause rocks, bricks, ect.. to fall off of walls. Any thoughts or facts.
  4. Thanks Kicknbass for the info. Sounds like it’s getting to be that time. I probably won’t go a lot since Bass takes priority but I’ll post if we have any luck. I probably won’t use trot lines either since that is work, although we’ll have one ready if we feel spunky to set one out.
  5. Is anyone trying for Catfish? I normally don’t go Catfishing but I have a friend who loves to go. We went last week on the pea gravel shores of Clevenger Cove but no luck. We used bluegill, and dough baits on rods & reels. When do they start spawning? At what water temp? Most of the Catfish I have caught has been while Bass or Crappie fishing. It’s hard to leave the boat at the house and fish for mud fish, but its fun once in a while. They do taste good.
  6. Crappiefisherman It is in your backyard, I apologize. I assumed you had a little piece of good living out East. Land is starting to skyrocket there also. I appreciate the house offer but I think I’ll stay where I’m at. Heck, the only thing I have around me are the 500+ new condos going up to my left and what used to be an eyesore across the lake at the 86 bridge is finally starting to look like something. I’m sitting pretty man. I’ve seen and heard of people sitting through commission meetings to get things changed or stopped around there homes and subdivisions. All have failed that I know of. I guess the commission is looking through the eyes of $$$$ and not what is best for Taney County people. It is not going to stop anytime soon, so I think we need to make what we can out of it.
  7. I have to agree with a little of every one. I agree with Crappiefisherman that you can sell your house for three or more times what you bought it for. That will be the only thing you will get from the HUGE pot of gold. Wait about ten years Crappiefisherman, there will be a “Landing” in your back yard and you won’t like it a bit. How far are we going to have to go to get away? I agree with Bill and the potential problems on the upper TC. I do have to say though Bill, the jet drives are probably a smart thing. You can’t find a GPS system or maps good enough that can navigate some, no the majority of the boaters that will be heading that way. There will be metal flying everywhere. Maybe they can bring the NO BOATS cable down about two miles. Are they not adding on to the fish hatchery? If so, imagine why.
  8. First I want to thank all the guys who researched this topic further and gave some insight. Second, I would like to give my opinion to the latest reply from (Vacation). It sounds like you might have a part in the landing. I don't believe it is going provide revenue to anyone but local goverments and the people who have their hands in on it. It will not help the blue collar workers by putting money in their pockets. Wages are to low and cost of living is going through the roof. Tell me how someone can buy a better bass boat that cost $40.000 on wages of $7-8 dollars an hour. And if they can afford the better boat, how will they pay for the gas to use it? The one thing that I will get out of the Landing is I won't have to spend an arm & leg to drive to Springfield for fishing supplies anymore. It will only cost a leg. I'm not sure of the sudden concerns about the Landing causing problems on TC fishing. The City of Branson has been dumping "treated sewer water" down stream from the Landing for years. The same with Springfield treatment plants dumping upstream. You are right about the lakes being a gift. Their a gift from GOD, so who are we to fill the beautiful shorelines with ungly condos and other junk? Its called GREED, "the love of money". At what cost will it stop? I think we are seeing that cost now in the fisheries and water quality. I don't know if you were around 20 years ago, but I'll tell you, The fishing quality & quantity were a whole lot better. And there weren't things like the landing/condos cluttering up the shorelines.
  9. I heard last night from who I think is a reliable person that Brass Pro has given or is going to give the MDC $10 million dollars for the stocking of Table Rock Bass. Has anyone heard of this or anything different?
  10. Started out last night 05-12-06 around five something. Windy and cool. Started fishing pea gravel points, not much luck. Fished shallow to 30 feet. One dink smallmouth. Moved to more chunk rock banks (points). Started catching a few spots in about 15-20 feet. Still not much luck though. Could not get them consistant on one thing. Caught one or more on Spinnerbait, jig & craw, split shot finese worm, swimming a grub. Caught the most on jig & craw. Stayed out till about 12:30am. Ended up catching around six or seven with only three keepers. One large mouth around 4lbs. Thats about one fish an hour (very very slow to me). I hope someone had better luck. This was up in the longcreek area. It was slow to begin with but alot slower after dark. Most of the fish were caught before dark set in.
  11. Don Thanks for making me realize that maybe I'm not wasting my time out there fishing. Hey, if you guides have slow days, it makes me feel better about my once or sometimes twice a week fishing trips. It sounds like there was that magical 100 yard piece of realstate you needed to find to catch fish. I'm glad I found a small piece of it. It felt good to reel in those fightin smallies.
  12. Slippery Yes, it is a jig. PB&J is the color. Also to add, I also seen some top water feeding action, but by the time I could get to them they were gone. I finally ended up catching one of what I saw. It was a big white bass. Caught it on smoke colored grub.
  13. Slippery I was out till noon on Saturday. started about 6:00am or so. Didn't start off so good for me either, tried alot of things. Moved to the dam area and in a stretch of about a hundred yards, caught eight smallies, four of which were nice 17-18 inch keepers. Threw them back. If it wasn't for that hundred yards, I would not have done much good either. Caught them on PB&J Eakins 5/16 ounce with same color craw trailer.
  14. I would not be as concerned about the stuff you can see floating. We can't forget about all those trees that were sticking out of the water five or six feet a month ago. They will be just under the water now. And with the dirtier water, they will be invisible. So be careful about running hard into somewhere you don't know. Always wear your life jacket and kill switch.
  15. I would like to add I think a very important opinion of mine to Bills response to the guide filleting fish with eggs. First, I can't remember when the last time I even ate a bass. I throw everything back. I have been around TR to long to see all of the negative changes it has been dealt. (Growth, pollution) Next, I do think it is wrong to kill fish that are spawning, But I also think that with all of the tournaments we have on this lake now, they are doing more damage than one guide killing a few fish. When a fisherman in a tournament or just fishing takes the fish off of the "beds", he is not only taking that fish away from protecting the nest but has killed every egg that could be. I have a real problem with fish being yanked off the bed and every little blue gill eating the eggs. That kills more fish in the long run than keeping a few once in a while. To me, it's like pouching. So please stop pulling fish off of their beds, We will all have a better fishing future if we can do that one simple thing.
