  1. Are you fishing from the bank or a boat Huck? I want to let you know that I have never fished Stockton in Feb, but I have some buddies that fish it year round. Earlier in Feb, they tend to use jigging spoons or jigging rapalas targeting pre spawn areas. Later in Feb, when water temp is getting in the 40-45 degree range they cast Smithwick Rogues along the dam. You want the suspending rogues, and fish them slow...really slow with long pauses. Your DVD sounds like Gary Parsons made it. I've had some luck with the knuckle ball jigs and gulp, but as I said, I just haven't hit Stockton that early, so hopefully secondhand knowledge will help. Here is a good article I found from walleye central about fishing pre-spawn and spawning eyes. Best of luck, don't forget to post results! WM
  2. Welcome aboard, Dave. Always good to get another Nebraskan here! WM
  3. http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=21305&st=0&p=138661&fromsearch=1&#entry138661 I think this is the thread, Martin. Cool pics. You are quite the Ozarks historian! WM
  4. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all you Stockton fisherman. (fisherpeople?) WM
  5. I would guess either a feather jig or maribou jig and a beetle spin. I was just searching the net two nights ago looking for any links to videos of Championship Fishing with Virgil Ward. I didn't find any on the net, but you can buy old episodes for like $30.00 each. That was my favorite fishing show when I was a kid. I'll be honest, I would not have had any idea what lures to even guess if I hadn't researched Virgil Ward two nights ago, though. WM
  6. Holy cow Bob, that really stinks! Hope for a full and speedy recovery for you. WM
  7. Wow, I'd love to have that, Martin. But if I bought it, I'm afraid I'd be walking around all the time saying "Go ahead punk, make my day!" WM
  8. Can't believe I didn't happen onto this thread 'till tonight. Lotsa good music mentioned here. I, like Cricket tend to listen to the heavier stuff. To get the juices flowing, I tend to keep going back to the last couple of Slipknot cd's. They're not for everybody, but it gets me awake and focused. Plus my country music loving buddies HATE it! Hendrix would probably be choice #2 Seether #3. WM
  9. It's not in Pittsburg, but A&A Storage in Stockton should be able to meet your needs. Just a skip and a jump away. Call Al at 417-276-3996. He just built a covered camper storage area south of Stockton. I've stored my boat in one of his units for a couple of years and couldn't be happier. Have no idea what he charges for storing a camper, but the boat storage is very affordable. WM
  10. Yea, Mozingo is a nice little lake, I've been wanting to get down there all year, and it just never worked out before yesterday. Just wish we'd have had better luck catching crappie. Saw guys catching them, we just couldn't...I feel like such a failure! WM
  11. Good job, i've been having trouble catching keepers this fall. Averaging one per day. If you don't mind my asking, were you casting, trolling cranks or bottom bouncing? WM
  12. A buddy talked me into taking Wednesday off and go to Lake Mozingo near Maryville, MO to do some fishing. The lady at the bait shop said she hadn't heard of any walleye caught in several months. We pulled harnesses in varying depths of water and I caught this nice 22 1/2" after losing a smaller one earlier. We fished crappie in the afternoon and stunk up the place, only two keeps. Also caught a 20" bass. The walleye is my biggest Missouri walleye this year.
  13. I quote rps because I couldn't have said it any better myself...thoughts and prayers are with you and your family straw hat. WM
  14. Thanks for the info Minnowhooker. I'll be back down this weekend to fish most of Saturday, and then run my boat down to Son Sac Marine before they close. Go Huskers! WM
  15. Fished Stockton October 9th and 10th. Used BB and spinners and then trolled cranks w/lead the 9th. Caught a mixed bag but not huge numbers 4 short walleye, two keeper crappie, several small whites and large mouth bass. On the 10th started with slow death, caught three walleye with one keeper. Swithched to lead core and caught one more, which had a bad case of scoliosis (sp)? Only fished three hours before we had to head home. Fished points and bluffs on the main lake south of the mile long bridge. Was a bueatiful weekend on the lake, you couldn't ask for better weather. WM
  16. Heck, we've probably all hooked an anchor before, but only musky fishermen have the gear to land 'em! Nice report Riverrat, keep up the good work. WM
  17. I'm glad to see guys talking muskie's on the Pomme forum. I fish Stockton for walleye a lot, but I've always wanted to hit Pomme and try to catch a couple of muskies. No body ever talks about fishing them on the forum, so it has lead me to believe it may be a waste of my time. Especially since I have no idea of where to even start. So, is the great muskie fishing on Pomme one of the great secrets in the Ozarks or what? WM
  18. Thanks kwall. I had some luck trolling flicker shads on lead core line three weeks ago around Masters, I'll proably try that again. Although I pretty much always try to work that flat that you guys were on. Thanks for the info! WM
  19. Thanks for the reports guys, I'll hopefully be down this weekend trying to catch a few. Hey kwall, what presentations did you guys try? WM
  20. Nice report Dave and welcome aboard. Looks like you'll be a great resource for all of us. Do you walleye fish at all? WM
  21. Pretty shady looking fishing partner there, Mike. Nice stringer of fish, though. WM
  22. Stockton is a great place to fish for walleye. If Labor Day was your first time on the lake, I would consider that a success. I'm not familiar with the lazer blade crank bait, but you may need to get a little deeper to increase your catch rate. I was trolling flicker shads with lead core line on Sunday. I was running the crank baits about 15-18 feet deep in 20-25 feet of water, but I caught my best 'eye in 8 feet of water scraping the bottom with the crank bait. I was working the shoreline north and west of Masters, but there is no reason the same won't work near Mutton. There is a large flat north and west of Mutton where I have had a lot of success this summer trolling bottom bouncers and spinner harnesses or slow death rigs, each baited with crawlers in 12-25 feet of water (slow trolling with bow mount). Bob Bennett always recommends jigs and crawlers on points, but I kind of prefer to be more mobile. I am also generally in LAZY mode when I go to the lake, it is not uncommon for me to not hit the water until noon. I have caught walleye all day, although my catch rates are usually better in the morning. Read up on other threads on the forum, there is a lot of information out there, although nothing will replace time on the water. Good luck and don't catch 'em all, I'll hopefully be back down in a couple of weeks. WM
  23. I've never met Marty or Bob in person, but I think I can pretty safely say, she is way, way, way more attractive than either of them! WM
