I don't know about the rest of ya, but it takes me longer to go check the mail than it does to mess up the sheets in the bedroom.

It would be a great project to do yourself. You dont need to know anything about fiberglass since it sounds like there is no damage. If your going to coat the bottom(which would be a great idea since you will be dragging on rocks on the buffalo) I would look into steelflex epoxy with teflon. Mainly used on aluminum, it greatly reduces the drag coefficient, to the point that you can push the boat while on hard ground easily.
Those commissary boats were built like tanks

gotmuddy reacted to Seth in Transducer On A Jet Boat?
Get a transducer board. Drill two holes to mount it and then you can adjust your transducer in the future as often as you want without drilling new holes. Since you have a welder, you could also just weld on a little offset on the transom for mounting transducers to.
Here's a couple examples.

If you mount the transducer at the proper height, the kick up feature should save your transducer if you run too shallow. I've gotten to where I don't even bother raising mine up anymore even when the rivers are shallow. I stuffed my boat pretty good last year and the bracket kicked up and the transducer was fine. Just had to shove it back down after I got unstuck. My transducer is mounted so I can lower it when I'm on a lake if I wanted, but I never bother doing it because I can still get good side image readings at it's normal height and it's more protected in case I happen to drift over a log or something.

gotmuddy reacted to Flysmallie in North Fork issue
One of the best smallmouth runs on the entire James River had a family of otters living on it. Seen them dozens of times over a couple of years and the fishing was always good. The only thing that ruined the spot was a flood that filled it in. Both the fish and otters left.

comparing a pond with catfish to a stream with trout is apples to oranges.

Not required if you are protecting your personal property but just killing them because you want to anywhere is not permitted period. Otters are a game animal.

So.....does this make it OK to shoot kayaks?
Just kidding of course (trying to head off someone losing it over this comment made in jest).

People are worse on fish populations than otters. Back when you guys were whining about otters wiping out the fish, it was relatively easy to go catch over 100 fish a day on a creek float. Now that everybody owns a yak or two, fishing is noticeably worse.

And people used to shoot every road runner they saw because they were convinced road runners were why the quail numbers were down.
people have no right to kill animals they don’t like just because. If you kill animals out of season, with illegal means, or wantonly waste them that defines you as a poacher.

Interesting indeed. Alot of things related to the forming of this country just blow my mind.
I mean.....prior to 1863....Who paid for it all??? There wasn't enough tax money being collected at that time to even buy a bowl of beans for a crew of railroad workers. Much less a fair living wage for all involved.
Prior to drivers licenses, birth certificates, SSN's, and other forced actions there was no way to keep a thumb on people. Matter of fact, the only REAL reason that the government gives food stamps and free money to people NOW is because without having them standing there with their hands out, there would be no other way to have any control over them. Nobody, aside from their family, would even know who they were, or if they even existed.
A census would be like trying to count the number of field mice in the country. They put on this humanitarian facade to make it look like they just CARE about every living person, but it doesn't take much of a brain to figure out the real reason why they "care".

Otters have become victims of propaganda. Bad press. I've never seen the need to declare war on them.

I bet they spend their time eating the abundant crawfish...they would taste way better

I think most boats will run 2-3" for a short run, but hardly any will do that for a long shoal. Its really hard to tell how deep the water is when your running up. Maybe when it warms up I will do some testing. For now I can just say I am very happy with the setup

It measures 1.5”. The change in color above that is where it drafts. 4” almost exactly. I know the 4” mark is correct because my son measured it in the water with me on the front deck.

For sure it is. The marsh is way easier with a jet boat. If there is any breeze I can run anywhere there is ripples.
