My first time fishing the Little Piney.  Went to the Lane Spring Campground.  Started about 10:30 am and fished until 4:00 pm.  Water was very clear.  Caught 30 trout total but most of them were dinks.  I had 5 or 6 decent sized ones in the 9 to 12 inch range.  Caught the majority on an elk hair caddis in size 16.  The second most popular was a BH prince hare nymph in size 12.  It was a beautiful day with sunshine and a high of 73.  I wish I lived closer.  4 hour drive oneway is a killer.

Skeeter ZX190 reacted to BassPastor in Dam area 10/3-10/6
Was waiting for @MO Huzgr to update on our trip this weekend but got tired of waiting.

Hate a great few days of fishing the dam area points on my first trip to Stockton. Primarily targeting Walleye but more than happy to catch bass along the way, or whatever else wanted to bite. Didn't take long to become impressed with the quality of the fishery in both size and numbers. Over the few days of fishing we caught, largemouth, smallmouth, walleye, sunfish, catfish, white bass, and drum in abundance. Had success with a variety of lures/techniques but focused primarily on jig/crawler, Flicker Shad, Bomber 200, and a 3.8 Keitech on 1/4 oz white head.

Great times and look forward to returning when possible! Also found interest in hunting the area, seems like a great spot to find unpressured public land. Anybody ever try?

Got on the water about 8:45 and had two limits of crappie before 11. We were fishing some brush piles when fish came up and hit the shad and this nice largemouth took it upon himself to hit my buddies crankbait. We were having so much fun catching and releasing keeper crappie we just couldn’t quit and finally got off the water around 1 o’clock.  Jigs in 8 to 18 feet, 72 degree water.  What a beautiful day of fall weather fishing. Tight Lines!

Left out of State Park in the early afternoon and fished till around 7. We didn't catch a huge number of fish, but the majority were keepers. Caught them on Rock Crawlers, spinner baits, and whacky-rigged senkos. The majority (of mine anyway) were on the whacky rigged. Best five would have been a little over 10 - so nothing huge but tons of fun.

Sat morning we took my son out for a morning fish, again out of the State Park. We hung around the bridge the entire time. By far the best part was my 7 year old catching his first 'big' bass, which came on a whopper plopper. Pretty sure it was his second cast of the morning (though we'll say it was the first).
    You can't buy this smile:

We also taught him how to hold it appropriately for the camera.
We threw everything at them and the winner, again, was the whacky-rigged senko. I think we got a few on buzzbait as well, but the senko won out.
Here's a 3+ from later in the day after the wind began to pick up

As for the senko - I like to use the BPS 7" green pumpkin, put the rubberband slightly off center (more toward the short end), throw half a nail weight in the short end and dip the tail (long end) in chartreuse dye. I think the larger senko a bit off kilter has some really good action on the fall.

First time on Stockton since April.  Thanks to Dutch and Steve McBasser for their recent reports which gave me an idea of where to start and with what. My son in the Navy was home for a few days so I got to get him out to do some fishing.  We put in at Orleans Trail and headed to the east side of the dam.  Water temp was 76.5.  Started by throwing a Pop-R and a spinner bait.  Caught 1 on each and then I went to the Ned.  That really produced well up until the wind started to pick up so we went to spinnerbaits.  60 to 65% of the fish came on the ned.  PB&J and Green Pumpkin red were the 2 best colors.  Most of the fish came in one really big creek arm just north of Price Branch.  Fish were shallow in 2 to 4 feet of water.  We caught north of 50 fish but only 5 were keepers.  Caught one fish that sure resembled a walleye but it had to be a bass because I caught it on a spinnerbait!   I think it is some hybrid of a mean mouth because it had teeth! 😀
