I haven't seen a post from dprice in quite some time.  I hope all is well. I've never personally met him, but the discussions I've had with him, and his posts on this forum, he seems like a nice guy.  From what I could tell, he can REALLY fish a jig.  I believe he has a son with the name dirtracer on this forum.

Back on the water again this morning out of State Park and ended up with a limit of crappie and two walleye over 20 inches! We tried trolling the flicker shad’s but really didn’t have much luck with them. All of our fish except for two came by trolling jigs in shad patterns in 12 to 20 feet of water.   About half the crappie we caught were females that still had eggs in them, some of the eggs had hardened up and I think are starting to be reabsorbed.   Water temps were 64 to 68°
    Tight Lines!

Pretty steady day on Stockton.  Third limit of crappie in a row.  Pulling Flicker Shad over structure..most were in 20 to 25 foot of water.  Water temp. was about 63 degrees.  Caught four whites and a couple short walleye.  My buddies Gerad,Judd and I  pretty much had the lake to ourselves!  We didn't see one other boat from our kayaks.  Bald eagle fly-overs never get old!

Fished out of Mutton and trolled in and near spawning coves with Flickers. Had a limit of crappie in a few hours. They were 15-18' down in anywhere from 15-40 fow. Pretty scattered but once you found a pod, had some doubles.
Then switched to walleye around 11:30 and caught a limit and then some. All fish came around wind blown main lake points. Fished bottom bouncers and Road Runner heads tipped with a half crawler. Also had a couple of nice cats and a sow white while fishing for walleye.
One of my better days on Stockton with a north wind.

Great job.  Just when it should turn on we get cold temperatures and now a flash flood watch with the potential of several inches of rain.  This could be a near duplicate of what happened last year.  The fish move into spawn and the lake rises several feet.
Maybe I should take up golf! 😁

The crappie should be on the banks bigtime.  If they aren't,  they should be close.  I would bring a bunch of minnows and use a bobber.  Set it for 18 inches and work the banks.  Depending on how many kids you have, you may be spending all your time taking fish off and putting minnows on!  😀

    Good job Dutch.
In my humble opinion, the ned is one amazing bait.  I know some may scoff at it, but it sure produces for me.  A couple of years ago I had a friend call me up to get some advice on what to throw.  He had been invited to go with someone that used to fish Stockton a lot back in the 80's. I told him to throw the ned.  His friend was throwing something that used to be a hot bait back when he fished Stockton.   After my friend caught his 17th bass, the other guy broke down and asked for one. I guess he spent the rest of the trip catching fish and just shaking his head in disbelief.

I put in at Hawker and first went to Googer.  After that I went up Sons Creek.  I was looking, but never saw you Lifes2Short.  I started fishing about 9:00 am and quit around 6:30 pm.  I did pull out of Hawker around 4:00 and drove to Stockton for a bite and then put in at Orleans Trail.  Glad I did.  I had only caught 9 fish from 9:00 until 4.  Caught 11 more from 4:00 until 6:30.  Everything came on the ned except a white bass on a jerkbait.  Probably the most vicious bite I've ever had on a jerkbait.
All in all I had 20. Two of them were white bass, a channel cat and everything else were bass  (smallmouth, spots, and largemouth.)   Maybe even a meanmouth.  Not one would keep except the 2 spots I caught since they only have to be 12 inches.
I am really out of practice.  I had more "swing and misses" than I care to admit.  Also broke 4 off on the hookset.  Me thinks I need to spool some new fluorocarbon.
Near as I could tell, the best spots were on points in 5 to 12 feet of water.  Water temps were 55.5 to 58.5.

Put in both mornings at Roark and stayed exclusively in the Suns Creek area.  Ended up yesterday with about 15 bass the biggest being 3.8. Most of the bass yesterday came on a spinner bait and jerk bait, the spinnerbait fish came out of 3 feet of water or less and the jerkbait fish were on main lake points.  Today there were a few caught on the spinner bait again but the vast majority of the bass today, 22 total, came on the jig in 5 to 10 feet of water.   Today we had strong westerly winds which I think really helped with getting the bass active. Water temps pretty much everywhere I went were 48 to 51°, the previous two nights cold overnight lows really took the water temps back down again.  Tight Lines!
    P.S. The ticks are out!

First of all I want to give a big shout out to Lifes2Short, Dutch, Bassfisher, Jmontgo, etc. for not catching all of the bass in Stockton and leaving me 2 to catch. It would be nice though if you could provide GPS coordinates for those 2 fish (should have been 3, I missed one that was a solid bite) because it would cut down on gas usage and time!  😀
What a difference a year makes.  On March 21, 2018 we caught like 49 bass with 15 being keepers.  Water temps a year ago were 44 to 45.  Light wind was out of the northwest.   Yesterday the water temps were 45 to 46 with light winds out of the northeast?  Seemed to vary depending on where you were at.  Water was very clear. I fished from the dam to close to State Park.  I hit many of the same spots as last year but couldn't find any fish, but many spots I sure was showing stuff on the graph.
I got a total of 4 bites and landed 2 fish, a 14 7/8ths largemouth and a 14 inch smallmouth.  The largemouth came on a phantom green rock crawler and the smallmouth on the ned.  The other 2 bites were on the ned.
It left me scratching my head wondering where are the fish?

Been out the last couple of days, yesterday was pretty tough with the wind but managed eight nice keepers and today it was a beautiful day on the water with little wind and 16 keepers!  Brush piles on the main lake, 20 to 25 feet of water, jigs in shad & electric chicken. Water temps are 38° and the water has cleared up really nicely in the mid-lake area.  Headed out again tomorrow. Tight Lines!

Just to the left of that huge sycamore tree on the point just north of the bridge. You will know when you are there when you see that loon in the water, the loon with the bad eye. If the loon is not around look for the stump that is located by the chunk-rock bank next to the old catfish float.   Need I say more?  Tight Lines! 😁

Went out both Thursday and Friday to try and catch more slabs. Quite the chilly start to the mornings but calm and flat days on the water are always a bonus in January!  Over the two days we ended up with 32 nice crappie and one keeper walleye.  I have noticed that the crappie bite has really slowed down since really hammering them in mid December, I’m thinking they might have moved out to deeper water??  Water temps are 38 to 40 and we found the crappie on brush piles in 20 to 30 feet catching all of them on jigs. Tight Lines!

I had to take advantage of the nice weather and headed back up yesterday afternoon for some more fishing.  I launched at Cedar Ridge at 11:00 and started fishing the insides of points in that area.  It didn't take long I caught a couple at my first stop on a jerkbait.  I headed to my next spot and same thing I caught 2 on the jerkbait.  I noticed that all the fish I was catching were farther back in the pockets a ways from the points and in a little shallower water.  I put down the jerkbait and picked up a wart.  I pulled in a little closed to the bank and fished my way back out to the point.  I caught 3 more on the wart on my second pass.  I went to the next spot and did the same thing.  Caught 2 right on the bank with the wart and another a little deeper with the jerkbait.  I was kind of caught in the middle of do I fish the bank with the wart or do I pull out and fish the jerkbait.  I choose the jerkbait mainly to try out my new Lews jerkbait special rod.  I was really impressed with how it fit for my style jerkbait fishing.  When fish jerkbait and most topwaters I hold the rod in my right hand and reel with the left.  When I fish that way I hold the rod behind the reel on the handle.  Short pistol style handle is great for that style and at 6'7" it is short enough that I don't hit the water with my rod tip when working the bait.  I am not a tall man.  I ended up with 19 yesterday with only 7 keepers.  They had moved a little further back in the pockets I would find them 50 to 100 yards from the point towards the back of the pockets.  The sunny side seemed to be better.  Merry Christmas everyone and tight lines.
