Bagnell Report

Recommended Posts

I fished Sat. March 14 from 2-6:45 pm. The water is still 41 degrees in the river. Ended up with 5 huge crappie, 2 black bass and 1 white bass. I had lots of really soft bites. The water needs to warm a little bit before it get real good. The guys up aginst the face of the dam did really well. However, they all got tickets from MDC. Don't forget about the yellow line.

Yeah, I stopped by the dam and walked down to see how everything was going today and saw the MDC handing out tickets to about 5 guys, and releasing their stringers!

What's the official rules down there? (I just stay well clear of the yellow and orange line, bit which is which? What's the official rules?

This is not official, but what I have been told by some others is that people fishing off the bank are not to fish above the orange line. People in boats are not to take their boat above the yellow line. From what I can tell, the yellow line is in line with the 75 yard arrow on the other side of the river. But again, I did not get this info from any official source.

I fished Bagnell this morning (3-19-09) at sunrise. Water is cold ~ 40 degrees. Cat were slow on stinkbait, cut shad, worms, and bluegill. Striped and largemouth bass were great on slow moving hair jigs, roster tails, and minnow jerk bait. Minimal poeple in the morning, but more showed up after noon. Turbines were running roughly every 30-45 minutes. Great fishing day overall.
