fishinwrench
Sorry, I still have no idea where this is. Zone 2? If you were down there recently it is where the big trac-hoe, bobcats and big mounds of dirt were setting.
Gavin
Didnt think they could do much more to make that place look like a city park/golf course...Guess I was wrong;>)!
NoLuck
Wow what a shame..... Over the years I have watched this place become nothing more than a City Park. The highbank hole on down to the bluff has been the best fishing at Bennett for the last 10 or more years. The next thing you know they won't let people wade there. Hell they may as well put benches and concrete from the Spring all the way to the river. I saw that marker there when I was down last and had my fingers crossed that they wouldn't do something stupid like this. I guess I'll have to start looking for a place to leave my pop-up down towards Montauk now. I always liked fishing at Montauk more anyway. But, the highbank hole and on down to the bluff the last few years has pretty much been a zoo though. I never seen so much visual combat and posturing as I have seen in all my years of fishing there. If you fished it on off peak times it wasn't all that bad, but look out on the weekends and vacation days of summer. Who knows maybe we are all just jumping to conclusions and this will be the best place to fish at Bennett and they will bury the pipes under some natural looking stones and make it look like a spring coming out from the rocks. rcguy
It is the riffle section about 200 feet past the stone bridge. I hope that helps you out. Later, FFM OK got ya now!!!

I though that 30 years ago, but it wasn't a loss for everyone, Rogers made a ton of money. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman. stlfisher
That doesn't sound too good at all. I guess this is related to the "improvements" they have made at the hatchery.
fishinwrench
I wonder what they plan to do with all the additional trout that the newly expanded hatchery will surely produce ? I hope that this "new and improved" hatchery operation will result in much improved management of the fishery BELOW bennett. Because if it doesn't I consider the whole thing a disgusting waste of time and money, over and above the undesirable altering of a section of the spring branch that should have been left alone. I mean after all...how many more fish could they realistically put into the spring branch for Christ sake ?
rcguy
Has anyone found any documentation on exactly what all the improvements are? It would be interesting to know more of what is planned. I been looking but can't find anything.
