Hey Guys,
Next up, the Sex Dungeon. We caught more big fish on this pattern in the last year than I would have ever believed. My favorite big fish pattern....period.

p.s. I had never poked my finger twice while tying any one fly at a time....until I shot this video.

I kind of forgot to show the materials on the rear hook so here is the whole pattern:

Rear Hook:

Hook: Gamakatsu B10s #2 (VERY SHARP as you see in the video)
Tail: Marabou
Hackle: Schlappen
Body: Marabou (SO much easier and quicker)
Rubber Legs: Sili Legs

Articulation Point: Beadalon
Spacer: Glass Beads

Front Hook:
Hook: TMC 8089NP #2 (VERY SHARP as you see in the video)
Hackle: Schlappen
Body: Cactus Chenille
Eyes: Pre-Painted Dumbell (because who wants to paint eyes )
Head: Deer Hair

Head trimmed with a flexible razor blade.

Like it a lot! Difference between you and me as I have never NOT poked myself twice when tying a big streamer like that. After a while you get used to it, but people think you shoot heroin through your fingers which in my opinion is pretty tough.

I hated it too....and I still can't work with it very well but I knew I needed to MAKE myself mess with it. I have replaced the deer hair in the Dungeon with wool but it loses almost all of that really good Dungeon movement in the water so....back to deer hair.

In the screen-capture of the video where there is a speck of blood on my thumb....you can actually see a spot on my thumb that is almost healed up. I literally threaded my thumb with a B10s. I have no idea how I did it without sticking it all the way through my thumb because it had a 1/2 inch of skin threaded and right back through in no time.....such a rookie, I know.

I'm sure you could do it with sheet foam it would just take some testing to get the buoyancy right.

Yeah it's actually pretty easy to replace it with foam, but it's still not the same.

Those Gamis sure are sharp. I've tied few dozen white bass flies on them in the last couple of weeks and they are sharp enough that I feel it but, it doesn't always hurt. At first. Then the next thing I know my thumb is throbbing and my fly is covered in blood.

I use 2 different hooks on the Sex Dungeon because of the material that one can hold over the other. The B10s is a standard stinger hook that wouldn't hold as much material for the size as the TMC 8089np. The 8089 is longer shanked allowing you to get that deer hair head on there and still have a body behind it. It is REALLY easy to crowd the eye on a #2 B10s if you are going to be stacking a deer hair head on it and I really don't want to step up to a size 1 or bigger for the dungeon because then it is added weight that really does make a difference in the action of this fly. The Dungeon is tricky, it is always on the border of not being right because of that almost neutral bouyancy that it has. If the head is too heavy then you basically have a Circus Peanut with a funky head, and if it is too light then the action goes to crap. I have tied several that didn't fish once I got them in the water and I finally figured out that the hook I was using, coupled with the amount of deer hair just fought each other and it started jigging.....which is the last thing you want with a Sex Dungeon.
