As of right now.... I started the process at the first of the year with chantix... by Feb it was one here and there....and then..

March 15, 2012... was the day I smoked my (hopefully) last cigarette....

Coming up on 3 months...

Still not able to do much fishing...

It looks like Im done for the year... going to be missing this falls brown run...

still no word on surgery date.... but... they are saying at least 6 months recovery afterwards.

There's always 2013 unless "Armageddon" hits at the end of the year...

I think its gonna be a long year for me

Leonard, that is encouraging for me to hear. I am on day 17 almost 18 now of quitting cold turkey. My Doc and I had a long talk today about it when I was in for other reasons. And he told me 3 months is the the Goal, if you can make 3 he said your odds of never going back are very high. I dont know why you quit but its encouraging to see someone make it to the three months.

The first part great to hear, the last part not so good. That doesn't mean you still can't bring down some "coffee" from time to time and let me beta test some new flys.

I did get this gel pack that has a metal disc about the size of a nickel in it that you click and it starts to heat up and looks like it is freezing then you put it in a velcro belt and around your waist. The heat lasts about 3-4 hours put the support it gives feels good even after the heat is gone. You have to boil it to get it back to a liquid state then use it over again and again. I will be up June 12-15 if you want to see it.

Give me a call, see ya

Good job, Leonard...keep it up! I tried the Chantix but it made me want to kill myself. Spent that month basically on the couch totally depressed. I'd rather die from the cigs than go through that again. It's so hard...

I quit cold turkey eons ago - best health decision I ever made.

Hope everything else goes your way - being laid up when there's fishing to do sucks, I know, I've been there too.

I'm one of the lucky ones who never haved smoked, but I seen many times how hard it was for family & friends to quit. Best of luck in what we know is a difficult challenge. hope to see you an the Lake as soon as possible.

I did the same about 20 years ago. I still remember where I tossed an almost full pack out the window of my buddies car. I think they may have been $.75 a pack when I quit. I feel great!

You guy's can do it. You just have to have your mind made up that that is what you want. If your brain is not in it, you won't quit. You have to be determinded! My buddy also threw his out at that same time. He didn't last a week. I still haven't put one to my lips.

Congrats on the 3 months! That's got to be one of the hardest things to do. Sorry you won't be sneaking up behind me for a while. I will miss those new patterns as well.
