I'm guessing that you are coming up from Springfield there should be some around Oseola and then north to Deep Water might be a few more. If you were to go to the Sparrowfoot Camp ground area there are several around there. And on north to Cinton go East of MO 7 toward Bucksaw and Long shoal there are lots of storage places. As for fishing guess bass fishing? I can't help you there I'm more of a crappie, white bass, and hybrid type guy. RB

Yeah, I'm coming from Springfield area. I go up to Clinton about once or twice a month and passing over the water has been tantalizing me for years. I first seen Truman in 2002 and it reminded me of fishing back in California just by the look. I have always wanted to fish the stumps for bass. I love fishing for Crappie as well I have a 10 foot row boat I built I haven't got it papered for a trolling motor yet but plan to in the future. Little thing can hold some weight as I weigh 360+ and my bfb weighs 400+. It can hold us both I was planning on putting 10 hp Honda, Johnson or Evinrude on her. So where are some good Crappie and White Spots and what bait would I use for the Whites?

760++ pounds in a 10 ft home made boat? That do sound a bit dangerous to me but if you are brave enough I would suggest to go 13 Hwy to the town of Deep Water on the right is a recational area called the Cooper Creek Access if you follow the road all the way east there is a boat ramp called the Deep Water ramp. Unload there and go back to your right that would be Cooper Creek that is a very good fishing area and if you can get up in the creek I have caught some decent white bass when there is some run off. Also great crappie fishing and lots of areas to throw bass gear at. One thing I would like to warn you about is that the wind could be problem with so small of a boat and for every tree, limb, stick, or stump that you see above the water there is probably ten times that many just under the water surface. Please be carefull and take your time to learn the area. As for lures just about any kind of crappie jig will work for the white bass with the Road runner variety as one of my favorites. Rooster Tail spinners also work very well and if the water is not too muddy small crank baits and Rebel Minnows work too. White, charteruse, pink, grey or any combination will catch fish. Good Luck! Yeah she made with 30 in. sides just like a old Clipper Skiff on the the old pole boats. Made her for launching out of the surf in Baja, Mexico. Since I travel Back and forth to California once in a while.

As you get more familiar with the area there a lot of places where you lanch from old gravel roads that lead into the lake. There are several on Deep Water Creek and Otter Creek all in the general area that we are discussing. I would recomend staying on the upper end of Truman in the more protected areas because the wind can cause some problems in the open areas of the lake. Some of the best fishing on the lake too in my opinion for what thats worth. RB

There is a lot of real shallow water out in that area mixed in with old sloughs, and creek channels. If you can find them they are there. RB
