Nice Doc. I'm sold. I want one. Now I just need help on the exact wording that should be used to tell the wife why a $1000 piece of electronics is needed for the boat....

It will cut down on gas............................. Saves us money

It will cut down on lost lures ................... Saves us Money

It will cut down on Boat Maintenance..... Saves us money

It will help me find fish that we eat.......... Saves us money on groceries

Because of the savings it does you can buy more shoes and jewelry

Me like! :) Ok, that's my Christmas\Anniversary wish now. I think once I get her bath/laundry remodel done she will be in the perfect mood for this.

I really do think it would be handy. I see where it is a significant tool if you are actually fishing for money - tournaments/guides - but doing the open water fishing I'm doing now, not just shoreline fishing, it would be a tremendous time saver potentially. It would just take time to learn the in's and out's of it.

Looking forward to seeing more pics Doc, keep em coming.

J Doc: What I meant is I have a $1500 unit that I am only using as a depth finder and have to learn to use it to find fish.

Chestnut: Thanks for the link, I will look right into it.

Nice pics JDoc! Those are even better views of the Indian Trail bridge than I got with a drop cam some years ago.

I can't dance like I used to.

You posted earlier that you have a 998 SI unit, and that's the same one I have. Let me know if you'd like to meet up sometime for some help. I'm no expert compared to the pros, but I know enough to be dangerous. Doug Vahrenberg has dozens of videos on YouTube explaining all the ins and outs of Humminbird units.

Well Robert Sir, I have a wonderful depth finder I'd trade you for your side imaging unit. :) I'd even take care of the install and vacuum your carpet too!

I think that its like anything else, you have to just play/use it for a while before you start to get the hang of how it works and how it can work better for you.
