Friday The 13!

Recommended Posts

Launched out of Aunts Creek around 0715. Threw a jerkbait around points with cedars and caught a couple. Ran up the James a little further and continued to throw the stickbait with a few more hook ups. A couple of the bites the fish slammed the jerkbait. I am still trying to build confidence with a jerkbait and it helps when they really eat it. Moved to the mouth of a creek on a point and it was game on! Ended up with 32 total with at least 3/4 of them keepers. Four were over 3# with the biggest 3.96. The best five were over 16.5 pounds. What a gorgeous day. Caught 6 on a jerkbait, 2 on a grub and the rest on a Dixie Jet 1/2 ounce flutter spoon. Most fish on the spoon were relating to the bottom in 25-40 FOW.

love when they really inhale that jerk like the last one...that's when you know the bite is really on.

I went out of aunts creek today. I caught 10 with 8 keeps for about 12-13 lbs 7 were on an a-rig 3 on a spoon. When they bit the rig they hit it like a train. Mostly Kentucky's with 1 good smallmouth

That is one super duper day. Those 3 fish in the middle are gonna put a whole bunch of little fish in the lake for us this Spring.

How were you fishing that Jet? I very seldom fish a flutter spoon on the bottom. I use it more for suspended fish. If I see them on the bottom I usually can catch them better on a grub fished vertically, or a jigging spoon. I say that and last Fall I would throw it out on the long flat points and let it sink to the bottom on a long cast. If they did not thump it I would reel it very slowly back just off the bottom, and wacked them doing it that way.

Very interesting, if you don't mind, let us know. Regardless terrific fishing.

Good Luck
