And the jackasses that see how big of a wake they can generate with their oversized outboards on small water. Happened at twin a few times last time I went out. Big boat puts in and immediately floors it sending a wake halfway up the river bank. Everytime I see someone do that, I just pray they jackknife their boat later to never see it again. To all people in powerboats, look out for the small crafts. This time of year is really dangerous with the water temps in the 40's and 50's. Don't be that guy. The game wardens cant enforce no-wake if its not marked or designated as no wake. Honestly it should be no-wake from Twin bridges to Neils Bluff. Lots of dangerous obstructions under water anyway. The law says you must be responsible for your wake and if you wake another boat you are violating it. If you swamp it or cause injury it could even be a felony. JohnF52 Posted March 25, 2015 Share Posted March 25, 2015 The jet boats have to run on plane to avoid obstructions. They dont make much wake then. The jets are not the problem at twin bridges. Its the big bass boats dragging tail at about 10-15 mph. I saw wakes today that were washing the banks away and almost swamped a couple kayakers. Was actually best if people kept it on plane and went by vs that speed that's faster than a troll but not on plane. But there's never an excuse for blasting by someone at a distance so close you could throw an ultralight rig into their boat. Members beaverbeater Posted March 25, 2015 Members Share Posted March 25, 2015 Exactly, and it's all about respecting everybody's safety. Everyone should be able to enjoy the fish and river. It's no different than moving lanes over on the highway for a car with a flat. I will say though, if you aren't wearigg a life jacket on a small craft, then you yourself are already asking for trouble. I try to respect everyone's personal space when I go fishing. And I usually like fishing away from the crowds. I don't even mind bush wacking and crawling the bank for a few miles just to get away. I view it a lot like duck hunting.
