Kings River 61 degree and could really not get bit

Recommended Posts

Kings is the perfect color and the White Bass should be running out the Kazoo. It is hard as can be. Did not get out till late and back in early due to weather, but the fishing is extremely hard. Spoke to about a dozen folks at the Viola Ramp and none had any Whites although they were trying their hearts out.

Few had caught a couple of crappie and a bass or two but this is plumb Silly. You can pretty much tell by the Kings and Sweetwater and Ackin Back if the fish are going, as the ramps up there get full quick. All had great parking this afternoon, as the fish in the Kings anyway are still sleeping in.

I noticed that there were only a few boats running about today; usually see a lot more Didn't look like anyone was catching anything though, boats would stop and fish for a minute or 2 then take off again.

Muddy, this is just silly, the fish in these River Systems should be Full Bore. For gosh sakes they should be on a wart, an A-Rig or a Rock Crawler up the Kings, as it is the perfect color and I had 3 short fish in 2 hrs.

I was really on a White Bass mission, and they are non-existent. Folks really struggled up there today. Lake wide some of our locals are catching some on a wide wiggle crank, a Varmint and a few on an A-Rig, but this lake is still really tough.

They are thinking between 3 and 5 inches of rain fall and temps in the low 30's the next 3 nights, so what else could go wrong?

Good Luck

The algae is bad in some coves up by the dam and has been for quite some time. I seen a bunch starting to float up last week before I left. It needs to get burned off quick. A few of my favorite places had a ton of algae. No crank or bottom bottom bite you could possibly get. Hope it's gone quick. Seems like a lot got started early this year.

I think I can clear up this mystery. My annual trip to the rock is this weekend so it was inevitable that there would be huge storms followed by a major cold front. I'm just surprised that the fishing wasn't awesome up until the day before I got there. I'll be gone after Sunday so the fishing should get back to normal starting on Monday.

Seems to happen that way doesn't it?
