Southern Illinois is full of them.

Yeah, they appear to be thick in some areas and not so thick in others areas. I didn't see a single one hit the water but the fish were look up anyway.

There are 2 broods coming out this year. The first one (Brood XXIII) is happening in SE MO and Southern IL right now and is a 13 year brood. The other is a 17 year brood (Brood IV) and will be coming out later this spring in extreme SW MO, mostly in eastern KS though.

I remember the brood that came out in St Louis in 2011. That was crazy how many there were. They were coming down our chimneys into the house and you could hardly go outside without getting dive bombed.
