Need an opinion

Looks like the water's down this weekend (about 300 cfs). What are the chances any trout are still in the river after all the high/warm water they've had all summer? Water temps have been anywhere from 68 - 73 degrees for a while. Thanks in advance for any input.

I've been down there within the last week...the water is dingy, almost muddy from the dam all the way to the Arkansas. Sure didn't look like anything I'd want to spend my time trout fishing unless there just weren't any other options. Not sure if that info helps you at all...

Helps a bunch. Sounds like the same conditions we had about 4 or 5 years ago (also a high water summer). There were a few worn out looking trout -- but I was catching a lot of small channel cats on a #16 pheasant tail believe it or not LOL. Think I'll clean up the sink-tip and the bass-bug taper for some smallmouth fishing instead. Thanks for saving me a trip over there.

There are lots of Stripers in the river, right now.  However, I was there, today, targeting them and got skunked.  The water is a dingy green.  It looks just like the water from the upper river that I saw earlier in the year.  I guess it finally made it to the lower river.  This water smells like the runoff water from the farmers fields that were fertilized with Chicken Crap and that is what it smells like, also.  It was very disappointing.

Floated in a kayak from the gravel parking lot to gore landing about a week ago fishing for trout on the upper half and then switched an 8 weight and big streamers, 4 to 5 inches. Tried white to black and I to got skunked. Only one of the three of us even caught a fish. I was a striper about 1/2 mile up stream from gore landing. Saw a couple of guys with a guide fishing just below the car lot and watched them each catch one striper each. They were throwing big streamers and stripping really big and fast. No trout and last I heard the wildlife dept was still not stocking. Then water was real murky the whole way. Will wait a while before we try again.
