9-16 report

Recommended Posts

spent the morning wading gravel bars upstream from parkers. The zebra midge was killing where there was current. Once the current died, moved up to the dam site and caught fish until they blew the horn. Had to fish 3-3.5 ft under an indicator. The water was a lot deeper than it looked. I'd like to take credit for the success, but it all goes to Amery. Helluva guy, and a helluva guide as well. I've literally caught 2 fish in 3 yrs on that river, skunked everytime I went. Didn't have a 20+fish day like I hear about, but a good solid 11 nice fish. To me that's what this forums about. Helping people out and enjoying the rivers and lakes of NWA. Thanks again man!

It's not a problem, glad you got into them. I've taken a few guys fishing from this forum and it blows me away to see the high character fellows that show up. I have met some good friends in the fog below beaver dam.

Where is the water most shallow? Looking to go wading in the morning and dont want to get into deep water.

Im thinking Ill start near the dam (usually go to parkers), whats the best access area?

Thanks!

It's safely wade able below all access except the one at the very end of the dam. Still to deep to cross to the gravel bar there. The boat ramp, middle access and the handicap ramp at parkers all have more than enough wading areas than you can get into in a day. They've been blowing the horn early btw

Lovely. I cant catch a break to get some decent fishing in lately haha.

I pretty much trashed the whole summer, and now Im itching to get out there.

Its been so long, I forgot about calling the hotline, got out there Sunday afternoon and the river was roaring by cause they were generating. I felt like a dummy:blink:

Haha, the water is almost always off at night!!!

This is true haha.

Not sure I can get up the nerve to get out there at night. Whats the trick to it, headlamps?

Just not familiar enough with the terrain after this summer, so dont wanna take too many chances.

Watch out, there have been rumors of a bearded man catching fish after dark, spooky stuff.

ButyeslimButyeslimit the lights and know your limits, stupid can go bad fast at night. As long as you pay attention you will be fine.
