Walleye report for 10/10

Recommended Posts

Caught 5 with 1 keeper. Fished in the dam area on the various points and flats in 15 - 20 fow. Also caught a bunch of bluegill. Probably could have caught more walleye if the bluegill would leave it alone.

I simply fillet them like a crappie.  It's a little trickier on the blade turn, and a narrow blade helps.  For many years before I 3vwr heard of fillet ing we scaled them cut their heads off and gutted.  Pan fried the whole thing, the crispy tails were a little treat we thought.  Never fished for them in winter though.

Bluegill are hard to beat MOP.  Most of mine come as a by product of walleye fishing.  Anyone have a good method of catching the large ones?  Anyone fish for them in the winter?

I catch the bigger ones while BB for Walleye
