Fishing Partner ?

Recommended Posts

Just curious if there is anyone else that bass fishes Stockton solo because their regular partners are generally tied up or busy lately. I find myself going alone which is fine but it's more fun to spend the day whipping the banks with someone else in the boat. Seems you stay focused better and "feed" off each other when 2 guys are fishing hard and throwing different lures. Anyone looking to pair up sometime with another bass fisherman ?

I spend quite a bit of time solo for the same reason as Chomper.  I was up Friday afternoon/evening solo cause I couldn't find anyone to come along.   I don't mind pitching in $20 or $25 for gas if I fish out of the back of someones boat but if we go in my boat I kinda like to be supported with some gas money too.

I end up fishing alone a lot too, for the same reasons, all of my buddies have lives apparently.  Usually a day notice and they are in.  Sadly many times I just end up doing yard work instead.  I live about 20 minutes east of Stockton but am probably the world's worst bass fisherman.  I don't mind pitching to help someone with gas etc, but for some reason get touchy if someone wants to buy me gas, he'll I was going anyway. Now if we stop on the way and eat breakfast or get some drinks and cigars I won't arm wrestle you to keep you from buying them.  That's just me though.

and that is the way every fishing trip should be.  If you are worried about spending $20 or even $50 on a fishing trip, your priorities are not right.  It only takes one trip with someone to figure out if he is a good partner or not.

Your exactly right. Usually if it's my boat it's on me. It probably all works out in the end but I never pay any attention. Its about the fishing, fun and friends

I think a lot of us fish alone. Sometimes a trip is just a spur of the moment thing or as in my case being retired would rather fish during the week rather than weekends, especially when the recreation season starts. A year or two ago the Ozark Anglers Stockton site had a topic where guys were posting info regarding their boat types and other ways to identify them on the water. I made a list, but I have misplaced it. Other times there has been a meeting for a cookout for Ozark Anglers. Even a friendly short tournament might be a good way to get to put names with faces.

X2 on the "short cookout & meet/greet"... Bring boats,  boats can be ID at greater distance than faces...

I appreciate the input from each of you. Every one has good opinions. I am up for the sharing boats every other trip too. My boat only has a 6 gallon tank so I wouldn't even consider taking money for gas...I was going fishing anyway....and invited you. If we click...we'll take your boat sometime. One trip and a body will know if he wants to fish with that person again or not...lol.  As long as someone wants to go along and enjoy a day fishing hard and can make conversation that all I would ask.  We all surely go fishing for the same basic reasons.  I go to Stockton every weekend but will miss the next two...so let me know if anyone wants to make a new fishing partner to fill in when your "regular" can't go.
