3 days, 3 tailwaters

20160730_103154(1).jpgThis should probable go under trout, as it is for 3 different waters, but I love the little red so it goes here. Me and the family left Friday afternoon, heading south to pick up a boat and break it in. Didnt have a chance to fish friday evening so we took it easy at the hotel snd got a little swimming in. Saturday morning found us heading for heber to try to break the boat in right!

The fishing was terribly slow, but the boy got to have the honors of being the first to slime the boat.

Spent the evening with some family in Heber we dont get to see often and called it a day. Sunday morning brought a nice T-storm in, which delayed the fishing until after 10. I got to take my uncles father-in-law out once the storm passed snd we proceeded to steadily catch 'bows on eggs and micro jigs until mid afternoon.

As soon as we loaded the boat, I took off for Norfork to fish. I made camp in record time, wadered up and hit the water. It was tough for a poor fisherman like myself but I did pick up my first AR brookies on #20 wd-40's.

I fished streamers from dark until midnight ish with no luck.

The next day i put in at Cotter and went to work catching ridiculous numbers. I still had not caught a brown, and in the heat of the day had given up when I stopped at a skinny riffle to wet wade for a bit.

I picked up a small cutthroat on a whitetail midge (phone was in the boat :( ) and got to thinking about not catching that brown early to finish my slam. 10 minutes, and another cutt later I picked up my only brown of the trip!!!!!! Rounding out my first slam completely unexpectedly!

I packed up just ahead of the rain and headed home from a crazy fun weekend feeling very blessed with a super cool ending.

A few more pics

That's awesome man. Glad the family is part of your adventures.

Are those the Thingamabobbers 2.0? How do you like em?

Those are the air-locks, a Tim Rajeff deal. I love them imo the best bobber available......

I found one of the "Air Locks" floating. I want to buy a couple, but all I have seen are JUMBO's that look like I could fish a live sunfish under one of them for flatheads.

Ya, it screws down, The plastic is harder than on Thingamabobbers. They have a smaller one which is a really good size, i think its a half inch. I like the bigger one for nymphing deep fast stuff, it holds 2 weighted flys and a chunk of lead really well. Those and pinch on football floats are all I use any more, I HATE toothpicks!

I use the football pinch on type.  They cast like nothing is on the line.  I HATE that they are not movable. Half of one is great for fishing a single midge or scud.
