Low low low water

I wouldn't cut through there when it's below normal pool...especially at 3 1/2 ft low.  I would go around the island.

Thanks!

And why is the water so low? I assume it's not from lack of rain, they must be drawing the lake down on purpose but for what reason? Sorry if this has already been discussed.

And what is the impact on the lake as far as fishing goes? Does it help or make it worse?

I have heard they have an agreement with a company that regulates the discharge through the turbines at the dam. This provides really cheap electricity for the power companies. They don't care about the water level in the lake. They just want to make money off of it. It's the same situation at Table Rock. They keep running turbines there and mess up the fishing on Taneycomo.

They generally time the clean up for late summer, which usually coincides with lower lake level.  The lake was not lowered for the clean up though.  If you look at the hydropower lakes right now many are somewhat low.  SWPA is generating and we have had some rains but not much in the way of run off precipitation, at least nothing beyond the quick rise and fall in an isolated area.
