David Unnerstall
These guys were using turkey tail fans as cover AND did not inform each other of their whereabouts. I have never heard of 'dressing up like a turkey during turkey season' and doesn't everyone have cell phones, now.
Johnsfolly
They may have been "fanning" which is where your use a strutting half decoy/fan held in front of you and you crawl out into the flock of turkeys to get a closer shot. This is a pretty effective technique, but one that is extremely dangerous if you do not know what all of the hunters in the area are doing or are aware of what you are trying to do. fishinwrench
Point of aim is supposed to be the turkeys HEAD. If they didn't see a head then they shouldn't have squeezed off a shot. Who (besides Kansas Flatlanders) shoots a turkey in the butt ? snagged in outlet 3, Terrierman, ness and 2 others
jdmidwest
I have seen several "sportsmen" lately shoot at the breast. What a waste of good meat. And I am not a fan of decoys either. Or gobble calls. Too many numbnuts in camo that can't tell a legal bird from their own butt. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. I never knew anything about this and I have been hunting turkey since the 80's.

jdmidwest
I remember this one guy that was sitting behind a deer decoy in the middle of my field on opening day in camo. Lucky for him, I have a scope and used it to check out the strange thing in the field before shooting. Trespassing and no hunter orange. Not to mention just plain stupid. But then he went back to state custody for Meth. grizwilson and Daryk Campbell Sr 2 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. fishinwrench
I have a personal problem with the word "accident" being used when it comes to someone getting shot. When you're careless or just plain stupid then someone getting hurt isn't an "accident".... It's what happens. And if it doesn't then your just LUCKY. A gun doesn't "accidentally discharge", it goes off when the trigger gets pushed, just like it's supposed to. Deadstream
