Ham Posted July 30, 2017 Author Share Posted July 30, 2017 You want to make extra darn sure that the combined length of everything is less than the length of your boat. Inner tube + rope + chain + 2 foot fudge factor < length of boat. The chain has to touch bottom at least a little bit to work properly. Ham Posted August 29, 2017 Author Share Posted August 29, 2017 Well, the whole purpose of the drag chain is to keep the boat from spinning down river. I want the boat parallel to the current if possible. it does slow the boat slightly. If I feel like it is slowing the boat down too much, I'll shorten the rope up a little bit to reduce the amount of chain in contact with the bottom. I feel like it helps regardless of what type fishing I'm doing, but if you have a TM on the bow or a guy on oars in the middle, you don't need it. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future.
