Crappie are biting.

Awesome.  I am a week or.two from being able to go after thwm, but usually LOZ is smoking hot for crappie about the start of deer season, toss in a few whites and hybrids and life is good.  Willing to share any techniques?  Usually a 1/32 Oz white jig back under the docks is my tactic.

I've been doing fairly well off our dock with 1/64 ounce feather jig in several different colors, BUT the jig must have a Crappie Nibble on it.  Having said that, while there are usually a few crappies under the dock, there are days when it's really good followed by not-so-good fishing.  Haven't been chasing anything out of the kayak in a while, but when that will change Wednesday when we're back at the lake for a couple of nights.

There have been quite a few boats heading up the creek, so I'm thinking that the whites are moving upstream. I'll have to test that...

I was just messin around off our dock this morning.  Minners, slip bobber set at 6-7' in 10 fow produced the biggest fish.  Farther out and deeper I went the smaller the fish got.  I caught several 12" after dark a couple nights ago in 3 fow casting small jigs.

The last 2 weeks I've been catching them in 12'  of water about 6-8' deep and even in 8' of water in or around dock, caught some on back sides of docks in 6' of water, weekend before last on a sunny day I seen them suspended under the foam on a friends dock at midday, minnows have produced the big crappie for me, and they all have been very nice size. Good luck and happy eating!
