Never been to Plateau, but would always recommend checking out the mom and pop shops.

This spring I was searching all over the web for a few things and couldn’t find them all at one place. Drove up to Cabela’s in KCK and was dissappointed (again). Went to a local place (K&K) and they had everything I needed. Learned a lesson right there.

Fly tying is such a small community of customers that any shop still in business is likely to be alright.  Less than reputable places don't exist long. Numerous places on line, but, you will learn more about the materials and how to select them for the kind of flies you tie from a proprietor run shop, I take it Plateau is such and right in your town, ask them all the "stupid" questions you can think of, because there aren't really any "stupid" questions and you won't learn if you don't ask. If you get down to RRSP/Cassville- Tim's Fly  Shop is tops, imo, and just outside the park.

The other thing you get in small shops is local knowledge of both the flies that work today and the particular water that you can use them on.  All that being said, big stores like BP and their subsidiary Cabela's do carry top quality materials as far as I can tell. I would buy from either in a pinch.

The first thing though is stop at Wallie world and buy two medium large storage tubs to keep your feathers, furs, and plastics in, it won't take long til you have a lifetime supply and still want to buy more.

One online place that has a some what poor reputation for service, but has great pictures and descriptions of feathers you might not see locally ( i like to browse there) is http://featheremporium.com/

Would get to know the guys at your local shops. T Hargrove's is my home shop/bar. The guys at Feather-Craft are great too. Great online store at FC. Hargrove makes awesome custom rods, will tie flies, make, fix, order anything for you and call or ship to you. Good inventory, at Hargrove's but will drive 2 blocks further if I want a grab & go and Tom does not have.

I buy most of my stuff at River Run Outfitters and Lilley's Landing, if you're ever around Branson.  The Bass Pro in Springfield also has some decent stuff, it just depends on what you're needing.  I like to look at materials before buying because looks and color can vary from different manufacturers, and even batch to batch from the same manufacturer.
