New lake just south of Joplin!!!!

Recommended Posts

I have been told it will end up like fellows, or at very least electric motor only lake. The 2 lakes they have proposed are both almost twice the size of Fellows.  Fellows is 800 acres these are both around 1500.

In other words four times more than needed.

Should be some environmentalist that could find at least a couple endangered critters living in those streams.  Have they banned car washes and closed down the semi truck wash? if they haven't they aren't in need of more water they just want to take that Federal grant and ti do that they have to build it.

Does this need voter approval?

NO. They already have approval for Eminent domain.  I feel bad for the farmers in that area. The Army core of Engineers will build the lake, but I would be surprised if it is finished in the next decade!

I would go for electric only, that lake will be just big enough that it will attract gas motor/fiberglass tournaments.  I'm a glass owing, gas powered boat owner myself and I don't hate tourneys, but it would be nice to have some lakes around that don't get hammered by tourneys every Saturday.

It's probably not part of their agenda, but if they planned from the get go to create fish habitat before flooding the lake it could be a dynamite fishing lake.

I would find an investor to build multi million dollar industrial park or housing complex there and let the taxpayers  buy that out.
