Garage size vs boat size?

Recommended Posts

Im looking at upgrading my current fishing rig... 2009 Bass Tracker PT175. I have 19W x 20D cookie cutter garage and my boat fits straight with the motor trimmed and the swing tongue. I would like to find something bigger and I'm not against parking diagonal. Does anyone have experience with storing a large bass boat in a small garage 19x20 or similar?

I've had a couple of small garages, including the one I have now. It works but I hate it every time you go in or out. The worst thing is the narrow doors, a tandem trailer and no straight shot at the garage.

Wheel jacks can make it doable but not a whole lot more fun. Especially if it’s a larger boat.

My Z521c is an absolute pain in the rear to get in and out and requires two of us to get it done.

There’s been lots of days that we wanted to go fishing but decided golf would be a heck of a lot easier!

I back my 1752 aluminum jet into the two bay side of my garage and then weasel it over into the 3rd bay.  Too wide to fit through that single door.  It's very light relative to a fiberglass boat but it still takes some muscle to get it over there.  But it's better than a storage yard.

Yeah, we tried the storage option for about six months and found it to be equally inconvenient, obviously more expensive and just flat didn’t like not having access to my boat whenever I wanted.

Just too expensive of a toy to entrust to someone else’s care too so Go-Jacks and muscle it is.

What I’d give for a Morton style building!

Got that right. And you've seen the "fitted" look of my storage. Definitely fished more when I had the 18' boat.

i thought out ahead and when i put up a boat shed, i made it a drive through.  i know for many that is not an option, but it is why i bought 2 acres and planned where everything would sit so there would be easy in and out access with a boat.

Im looking at the Ranger RT198P and by the dimensions it should fit corner to corner with the motor trimmed and the swing tongue.

I think it will be tight in a 19x20 but thats big investment to leave outside.

I found out recently my garage could accommodate a new Basscat Pantera Classic.  A 19’ class boat in a conventional garage....23’x97”.  I can’t justify it yet but reality is closer than its ever been.  Anyway you could frame out an alcove to get an additional few feet for the motor?
