It was in 1973 4 year after being built. I was there j Dade county with the aoil conservaton service uUS goverment. MDC ask us to map the soils before the lake was flooded. They also had  a field day to show people how the Indians used the bottom land and fished in Sons creek. Hunderes of peoole came.

At state park there was a piece of tape around the flag pole representing the highest water level, the lake will have to come up at least 5 ft to reach it😯

I remember seeing someone fishing from a  boat at the west end of the field across the road from the Mutton Creek Center store (now a campground) on Y hwy.  That WAS in the early 70s. Don't think you could float a boat there now.
