Barclay or Prosperine or Lead Mine?

Recommended Posts

The wife is needing some river time to relax and unwind, and I wouldn't mind doing a bit of fishing.

Would prefer to avoid the flotillas of drunken canoeists to the extent possible.

Running a 20' Alweld with a jet so getting around isn't an issue.

River gauge says the water should be decent for floating and swimming.

Recommendations appreciated...

I’d say put in above tunnel dam and run up as far as you can, the Niangua opens up and matures a little more on the end with a 20 footer. You’re going to have floaters from prosperine up. The best way to avoid floaters is to go up from leadmine. There are floaters from living water. They drop off at lead mine and take out above lake Niangua

I think you would have a better day going to the gasconade.

Gasconade is chocolate milk right now.

Be careful, there are places where the channel is narrow and full of logs. I’ve gotten myself in a pickle more than once.

Did not know that. That sucks. Is the Niangua in any better shape? I do not have eyes on the river, but I do have eyes on the Niangua arm of the LOZ and it is straight chocolate milk as well. The 4 inches of rain Sunday night got the river flowing pretty good according the the tunnel dam gauge.

This summer has been crap for boat riding on the rivers for sure.

Wife likes the Niangua and was hoping this would be the weekend for it.

Maybe I'll take her to Long Branch instead.  lol

I know but first I’m thinking a lot of Boat I got rid of my 18 footer because I thought it was too big.

Should do ok had people feel unsafe just before Lead Mine Ramp because of trees.

Might be not where you want but I like Pomme de Terre River at Sapp’s Landing towards the Lake.

Great run and Fishing.

Just thought though it might be all up there.
